How to Hack Williams’ Computer in Directive 8020?

Many of the trophies and achievements in Directive 8020 require you to complete certain parts of an episode in a very specific way. Some trophies even ask you to eliminate crew members to change how things play out, but the Password1 achievement is unique and works differently.

You might face a character death while trying to unlock this trophy, but it’s avoidable! You can reload from a Turning Point or make specific choices during gameplay to prevent it. Here’s a breakdown of what you need to do, including the correct dialogue options and a key decision to make later in the episode.

The guide below contains spoilers for Episode 5 of Directive 8020.

How to Hack Williams’ Computer in Directive 8020?

This trophy begins in Episode 5, during the ‘Suspicions’ section, after you solve the Chemical Agents puzzle. Once Cooper talks to Anders, Anders will suggest Williams is hiding something and propose hacking his computer if they can sedate him. At this point, you’ll be presented with several dialogue choices, and you need to select a specific option to progress.

  • What’s his game plan?
  • You sly old fox
  • What do you propose we do?

Getting these correct responses will lead Cooper to agree with Anders about creating the sedative. As you continue playing, Anders will eventually give Williams coffee that has the sedative in it.

Following this part of the game, Anders and Mitchell will find themselves in a dangerous situation where you’ll have to choose who to save. If you earlier disabled the Landing Computer instead of the Fire Control system, you can save Anders, and Mitchell will also survive. Alternatively, if you choose to save Mitchell, Anders will live as well, but she’ll be injured and require hospitalization, which prevents you from unlocking the Password1 trophy.

Okay, so I just found out how to get the Password1 trophy! You absolutely have to save Anders. Once you do, there’s a cutscene where she explains that cracking the files is going to take a bit, and that’s when the trophy actually pops! It unlocks right during that scene, so just keep watching!
