Wizards of the Coast’s Secret Lair releases offer a diverse range of products, usually including unique cards and artwork. These drops have included everything from fresh takes on classic cards created by different artists to complete, ready-to-play decks. Secret Lairs are also known for featuring crossover cards from the popular Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond series, like cards combining MTG with franchises such as The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Walking Dead. A new Secret Lair release will have a special limit to help more fans purchase the Goblin Storm deck.
Magic is Limiting Sales of its Goblin Storm Commander Deck
As a big Magic: The Gathering fan, I was excited to hear about the Goblin Storm Commander Deck, but Wizards of the Coast just announced a limit of one deck per customer. Usually, Secret Lairs are unlimited, but they’re doing this to make sure more fans can actually get their hands on it. It’s awesome they’re trying to prevent scalpers from buying everything up and reselling it for a huge profit! The deck goes on sale May 18th at 9 a.m. PT through the Secret Lair shop, so mark your calendars!
Wizards of the Coast is taking steps to prevent price gouging, as previous Secret Lair releases have quickly sold out. When a new Secret Lair becomes available, fans usually have to wait in a long online queue to even access the website. These special Magic: The Gathering promotions often sell out rapidly, frequently being bought by resellers who then mark up the price significantly. Secret Lair Commander Decks are especially prone to high prices, and those prices tend to climb even higher once they’re no longer available.
A special edition of Magic: The Gathering featuring the Goblin Storm deck is planned for release in 2026, as part of a series of themed ‘Secret Lairs.’ These Secret Lairs often include unique promo cards, and past releases have featured collaborations with popular franchises like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Secrets of Strixhaven expansion. Recently, Wizards of the Coast has been creating crossover content, including MTG cards inspired by the Fallout TV show and My Little Pony.

Okay, so as a Magic player, I’m super hyped for the rest of 2026! We’re getting a ton of new sets. In June, a new Marvel crossover is dropping, and it’s gonna be awesome – think Avengers, Fantastic Four, the whole crew! But that’s not all – Wizards of the Coast is also bringing in The Hobbit and Star Trek later in the year, alongside a set that dives deeper into the Magic universe with Reality Fracture. Seriously, 2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for Magic: The Gathering, and I can’t wait to start collecting!
