Devil Fruits are central to the power system and lore of the One Piece story. Each fruit gives the user some kind of ability, but these abilities vary greatly in strength. The most powerful Devil Fruits can grant users incredible destructive power – enough to easily destroy entire islands. These exceptionally dangerous fruits are typically held by the strongest characters in the One Piece world.
8. Goro Goro no Mi
- User: Enel
- Type: Logia
The Goro Goro no Mi is a powerful Devil Fruit, currently used by Enel, that grants the user the ability to become, generate, and manipulate lightning. As seen during the Skypiea Arc, this fruit – often called the Rumble Rumble Fruit – is incredibly dangerous, even in the hands of someone who isn’t the most powerful character.
Enel’s Raigo attack was incredibly powerful, capable of instantly defeating most opponents, and he could generate 200 million Volts without any difficulty. He’s also one of the few characters confirmed to have destroyed an entire island – and he did so even before fully mastering his Devil Fruit. If he were to awaken his powers, the Goro Goro no Mi could potentially cause worldwide destruction.
7. Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika

- Type: Mythical Zoan
Luffy’s Devil Fruit, long believed to be the Gum-Gum Fruit, was revealed in the Wano arc to actually be the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika – a powerful Mythical Zoan type. When Luffy unlocks the fruit’s full potential, he can transform into the Sun God Nika, a legendary figure known as both a savior and a destroyer.
Luffy’s fight with Kaido demonstrated his ability to obliterate an entire island. When he transforms into Giant Luffy, especially using Gear 5, he becomes incredibly large and powerful enough to do so. His most powerful attack, the Bajrang Gun, is so devastating that it could have completely destroyed Onigashima if it had landed properly. Clearly, Luffy has the power to level islands.
6. Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu
- User: Kaido, Momonosuke (Artificial)
- Type: Mythical Zoan
The Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu is a powerful Devil Fruit once thought to be the strongest of them all. It’s a Mythical Zoan type that lets the user transform into a huge eastern dragon, like both Kaido and Momonosuke can do. This dragon form gives them amazing abilities, including control over the wind, lightning, and even the power to breathe fire.
Kaido’s most devastating ability comes from his Drum Dragon transformation. When he uses it, he’s covered in fiery, magma-like flames and grows to be as large as the island of Onigashima. This ultimate form is powerful enough to completely destroy an island, without a doubt.
5. Gura Gura no Mi
- User: Whitebeard (Formerly), Blackbeard
- Type: Paramecia
The Gura Gura no Mi is a powerful Devil Fruit, classified as a Paramecia-type. It once belonged to Whitebeard, the former ‘Strongest Man in the World,’ and is now possessed by Blackbeard. According to the author, Oda, this fruit has the potential to not just destroy islands, but the entire world – a claim supported by its demonstrated power within the story.
This Devil Fruit grants the user the power to generate earthquakes and massive tidal waves. With enough strength, or by fully mastering the fruit’s abilities, the user could unleash devastating natural disasters capable of immense destruction. This makes its potential for damage greater than any other ability seen in the story.
4. Yami Yami no Mi
- User: Blackbeard
- Type: Logia
The Yami Yami no Mi is a truly unique Devil Fruit. Blackbeard spent a long time searching for it before finally consuming it. This fruit grants the power to create and control darkness, but it’s different from other similar fruits – the user can’t transform their body into darkness. It also has a significant drawback: the user takes twice as much damage from any attack.
Despite everything, the Yami Yami no Mi remains incredibly powerful – strong enough to obliterate an entire island. If Blackbeard fully masters its abilities, particularly the Black Hole technique, he could easily destroy a whole island. He’s already demonstrated immense destructive force with it, and awakening the fruit would only amplify that power, potentially giving him the ability to cause worldwide devastation.

3. Magu Magu no Mi
- User: Akainu
- Type: Logia
The Magu Magu no Mi is a powerful Devil Fruit that lets its user control magma. Currently, it’s held by Fleet Admiral Akainu. It’s considered one of the most devastating Logia-type fruits, allowing the user to become, create, and manipulate magma – which is even hotter and more destructive than fire in the world of One Piece. Akainu’s magma can melt through almost anything.
This ability is already incredibly strong, but when combined with a Devil Fruit Awakening, it’s capable of devastating entire islands, like we saw with Punk Hazard. Akainu transformed half of the island into an uninhabitable wasteland of magma, and he easily could have destroyed the whole thing if he’d wanted to.
2. Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr
- User: Loki
- Type: Mythical Zoan
The Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr is a recently revealed Devil Fruit in the Elbaf arc. This Mythical Zoan type allows its user, Loki, to transform into a dragon from Norse mythology. It’s an incredibly powerful fruit, enabling the user to grow massively in size – far beyond their normal height. Given that Loki is already an Ancient Giant, much larger than most characters, this fruit makes him unbelievably destructive.
When Loki transforms into a dragon, he becomes incredibly large and powerful enough to obliterate many islands. His complete dragon form, based on Nidhoggr, doesn’t just make him huge, it also gives him the ability to control lightning.
1. Akuma no Mi
- User: Nerona Imu
- Type: Unknown
Imu’s Devil Fruit, revealed in One Piece chapter 1179, is a unique Zoan type. It allows Imu to transform into a devilish being and control dark flames called Omen or Maki, which are incredibly powerful for both attack and defense. Imu has demonstrated abilities like turning opponents into enslaved demons with a power called Domi Reversi, using seemingly magical skills, and forming special agreements with those who serve him.
Considering everything we’ve seen, Imu clearly has the power to obliterate an island and enslave everyone living on it, effectively erasing it from existence. So far, though, he’s only hinted at the full extent of his abilities, particularly regarding his Devil Fruit. We can expect to see the true power of his mysterious fruit revealed later on.
