Dotemu and Tribute Games have released the first paid downloadable content for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, available today. For $3.99, players can add Cyclops from the X-Men and The Thing from the Fantastic Four as playable characters.
Released last December on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a beat-em-up that captures the feel of classic 1990s Marvel arcade games. Critics generally loved the game, giving it an average score of 81 on OpenCritic. TopMob’s Nick Rodriguez awarded it an 8 out of 10, praising it as one of the best retro-style arcade games in recent years.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion DLC Adds Cyclops and The Thing to the Roster
The first downloadable content for Marvel Cosmic Invasion is available to players later today on all platforms – including PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. For just $3.99, you can unlock two new heroes, each with unique abilities and impressive animations.

Cyclops is a highly anticipated addition to the Marvel Cosmic Invasion DLC, and he fights using his signature optic blasts. He has powerful blasts that can hit enemies forward, down, or up, and a special ‘Vertical Strike’ move to quickly defeat flying opponents. Cyclops also has an ‘Overpowered’ ability that rewards aggressive play – the more he attacks consecutively, the stronger his optic blasts become.
The first DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion adds The Thing, a powerful character known for his close-combat skills. The Thing’s gameplay focuses on grabbing and hitting opponents, tackling enemies from above, and charging directly into the fray. His ‘Rock Solid’ ability makes his charge even more effective by giving him extra defense while sprinting, allowing the attack to continue for a longer duration.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is Getting A Second DLC Later This Year
Dotemu and Tribute Games announced that a second paid downloadable content pack is coming to Marvel Cosmic Invasion in Fall 2026, following the recent additions of Cyclops and The Thing. This new content will add more playable characters and introduce a completely new game mode to the retro-style beat-em-up. Details about the number of new characters, who they are, and specifics of the new game mode haven’t been revealed yet. The developers also shared that Marvel Cosmic Invasion has been played by 1.5 million people since its release last December.
