To succeed in challenging endgame content like Beyond the Rails and High Risk Commissions in Null Terrain Expedition (NTE), building a strong team is key. Understanding how different Espers work together – their cycles – and including characters who boost those cycles will maximize your team’s effectiveness. This guide will highlight the top NTE teams and explain why they excel.

Baicang + Daffodil + Haniel + Sakiri

This team is incredibly adaptable within NTE. Combining Baicang and Daffodil allows for a wide range of powerful combinations, making enemy rotations unpredictable. Daffodil acts as the team’s core for quick responses, using Scorch and Nova Esper Cycles to activate Discord and repeatedly disrupt opponents. She’s a character who excels at quickly engaging and disengaging, and needs a team that can seamlessly switch roles with her.

Baicang is the team’s primary damage dealer, staying on the field for extended periods and relying on the rest of the team to boost his damage output. Haniel and Sakiri work together to maximize Baicang’s damage while also managing the team’s special abilities (Esper Cycles) to activate powerful buffs like Nova and Scorch with Daffodil. Importantly, both Sakiri and Baicang significantly increase the damage of Scorch, making it even more beneficial to trigger frequently in battle.

Hotori + Nanally + Jiuyuan + MC

Hotori is a new character who strengthens the Blossom reaction in the game. This makes her a great addition to teams built around all three Blossom-boosting characters: Hotori, Nanally, and Jiuyuan. When this team activates a Blossom reaction, Jiuyuan generates an extra Vita Bud, increasing the maximum number on the field to six. Nanally speeds up Vita Buds, making them fire once per second instead of every two, effectively doubling their damage output. And because Hotori briefly pauses time with her Ultimate ability, her Blossom boost keeps Vita Buds from freezing, letting them perform at their best even while enemies are frozen.

Adding MC to the team can significantly improve its performance. Their abilities activate another Support Skill, allowing the team to generate four Vita Buds each turn. Because MC doesn’t require much playing time, Hotori and Nanally have more opportunities to switch positions and work together.

Nanally + Jiuyuan + Sakiri + MC

This team centers around Nanally as the primary damage dealer, with Jiuyuan and Sakiri alternating support roles. Because the team relies on the Blossom reaction, you’ll need either MC or Hotori. While not essential, Jiuyuan can hold the field and contribute while Nanally’s Ultimate is recharging.

Sakiri is a great teammate who both protects the team and boosts Nanally’s damage while she’s fighting. What makes this team really strong is how well Jiuyuan and Sakiri can control enemies, grouping them together so Nanally can hit many at once and do more damage. If you don’t have Sakiri, Haniel can also provide a similar damage boost.

Chiz + Jiuyuan + Hathor + Haniel

This team focuses on maximizing Chiz’s abilities and keeping her active in battle. Chiz really shines when she can use her Ultimate often, which requires building up her ‘Charge’ with each turn. To ensure she can use her Ultimate every time she’s in the fight, Jiuyuan and Hathor should be used as supporting damage dealers.

Hathor extends the duration of the Remora reaction, letting Chiz regain her Ultimate ability faster. Meanwhile, Jiuyuan makes the Blossom reaction create two Vita Buds, giving Chiz more energy, and her passive skill helps boost that even further.

Hathor is a powerful secondary damage dealer who can reliably contribute to a team’s overall damage output. Haniel significantly boosts Hathor’s effectiveness through their combined ‘Stain’ reaction, making enemies more vulnerable to Hathor’s attacks. Haniel isn’t just supportive, though; they also provide valuable buffs that enhance both Chiz and Hathor’s damage while they’re actively fighting. When combined with Jiuyuan’s ability to gather enemies, Haniel’s buffs, and the strong damage from Chiz and Hathor, this team composition is considered one of the best in NTE.
