PlayStation has announced price increases for PlayStation Plus subscriptions beginning May 20, 2026. PlayStation Plus, which was updated in 2022, offers three different plans. The Essential plan is the most affordable and provides access to online gaming. The Extra plan includes online gaming plus a library of hundreds of newer games to play. The Premium plan offers everything in Extra, along with a collection of classic games.
PlayStation Plus recently became more expensive after a rebranding. Prices went up around 35% in 2023, but most subscribers continued with their memberships. PlayStation’s subscription revenue has grown each year, not just because of the higher prices, but also because more people are buying PlayStation consoles and signing up for the service. This is likely due to popular new games that require online play, and the growing number of PlayStation 5 owners.
PlayStation Announces PS Plus Price Hike
PlayStation announced on social media that PS Plus subscription prices will go up in several areas starting May 20, 2026, citing current market factors. While the announcement didn’t list all affected regions, it specifically mentioned India and Turkey, and displayed prices in US dollars, euros, and British pounds. PS Plus prices have gone up before in some places, and these changes are similar to increases seen in Latin America in 2025. However, PlayStation expects this price hike to be more widespread than previous ones.
The price increase for PlayStation Plus only applies to new members, with the exception of players in Turkey and India, where all subscribers will see the change. Existing members who cancel their subscription or let it expire will have to pay the new, higher price when they resubscribe. So far, PlayStation has only announced a price increase for the Essential tier, raising the monthly cost from $9.99 to $10.99. While this increase is small, subscribers to the Extra and Premium tiers can also expect price hikes, likely of a greater amount.
