PlayStation Plus has announced the eight games subscribers will get in May 2026 as part of the Extra and Premium tiers. This includes a re-release of the critically acclaimed open-world game, Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s likely this re-release is timed to coincide with the anticipated news about Grand Theft Auto 6, but even without that connection, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a fantastic game worth playing.
New games are coming to PlayStation Plus on May 19th. But don’t forget! The current free games for May – EA Sports FC 26, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Nine Sols – are still available to download (for Essential Tier members). These will disappear in June, so be sure to get them before then. The new games arriving on May 19th will be available for a much longer period.

Even without considering Red Dead Redemption 2, this is shaping up to be one of the strongest PS Plus Extra lineups of the year. PS Plus Extra is usually the best value PlayStation Plus offers, and this month’s games really demonstrate why. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a huge draw on its own, and Star Wars Outlaws is well worth playing, especially for those who haven’t tried it yet. Plus, there are some excellent smaller titles: Bramble and The Thaumaturge are fantastic indie games, Broken Sword is a remastered classic, Enotria offers a fresh take on the Soulslike genre, and Flintlock is a unique Soulslike experience.
It was already announced that Time Crisis would be available on PS Plus Premium this month, so this isn’t unexpected. For those unfamiliar, it’s a classic first-person shooter originally for the PS1 that used a light gun. The game is being updated for PS Plus, and it will be interesting to see how the gyroscopic aiming on the PS5’s DualSense controller is implemented.

Honestly, the PS Plus games for May feel pretty standard for what we’ve been getting lately. It’d be great if Sony gave the Premium tier a little more love, but Extra is definitely where it’s at. And with Red Dead Redemption included? Forget about it! It’s a really strong month, and I’m downloading everything!
