Solo Leveling has become incredibly popular in the world of manhwa thanks to its stunning artwork, characters people can connect with, and the engaging concept of ‘aura farming.’ The recent anime adaptation has boosted its popularity even further, and fans are now excited for the upcoming third season.
Because Solo Leveling was so popular, many other manhwa have tried to be similar. This led to some poorly made stories being released, but also to several new titles that offer a similar enjoyable experience.
6. Solo Leveling: Ragnarok
As a huge fan of Solo Leveling, I was so excited when Solo Leveling: Ragnarok was announced! It’s a direct continuation of the story, picking up right where things left off. Now, if you only watched the anime, you might be a little lost, as Ragnarok jumps right into the events from the original series’ finale. But for those of us who followed the whole story, it’s exactly what we needed!

Solo Leveling: Ragnarok centers on the son of Sung Suho, Sung Jinwoo, and Cha Hae-in. Following Jinwoo’s sacrifice, the world was believed to be at peace. However, powerful beings now threaten Earth, hoping to take control. While Jinwoo fights them off in space, his son must defend the planet from other, still dangerous, enemies.

4. Level Up with the Gods
What makes Solo Leveling so engaging is watching Sung Jinwoo transform from a weak hunter into an incredibly powerful force, commanding an army of shadows. He consistently confronts and defeats stronger opponents. Level Up with the Gods offers a similar experience; the main character battles actual gods, either defeating them or recruiting them to his side.
Kim Yuwon finds himself trapped inside a strange tower, where he’s forced to fight terrifying monsters and figures from ancient myths. He manages to team up with legendary heroes from various cultures to combat powerful Outer Gods, but even with their combined strength, they struggle. Ultimately, he’s chosen to travel back in time, giving them a second chance to develop a winning strategy for the final, crucial battle.

3. The Lone Necromancer
Sung Jinwoo, from Solo Leveling, revolutionized the portrayal of necromancy with his shadow-based abilities, demonstrating its immense power. It’s no surprise that other stories have explored similar ideas, and one particularly strong example is The Lone Necromancer. This story fully embraces the necromancy concept, crafting its own unique narrative instead of simply copying Solo Leveling.
Seongwu has just completed his military service and is heading back to college when disaster strikes – a sudden apocalypse! Monsters appear, and everyone is forced to choose a special class. Seongwu selects Necromancer, discovering he can summon skeletons to fight for him. Now, he must use his newfound powers to battle terrifying creatures and protect those he cares about.
2. I’m the Max-Level Newbie
Solo Leveling is a great example of how to build power through controlling others. The main character can dominate even the strongest enemies and is also a skilled assassin. I’m the Max-Level Newbie clearly learned from this approach. While its main character doesn’t raise the dead, he’s a deadly dagger fighter who enjoys tackling seemingly impossible challenges independently.
Kang Jinhyeok is a popular streamer who’s spent ten years playing and broadcasting the game Tower of Trials. Just as he’s about to stop, the game suddenly becomes real. A message appears, stating that humanity will be destroyed if players can’t beat every level within 90 days. Jinhyeok, using his extensive knowledge of the game, relies on all the strategies and exploits he’s learned over the years to become powerful and try to save everyone.
1. The Return of the Disaster-Class Hero
It’s easy to set a story on Earth because everyone understands the world already. You just need to add fantasy elements like monsters and dungeons, and the setting is ready to go. This allowed Solo Leveling to concentrate on its character progression and story. The Return of the Disaster-Class Hero also uses this approach, but it builds a more detailed and interesting backstory. However, the main character still follows a similar path to Sung Jinwoo, fighting against creatures from another world, though with some key differences.
In The Return of the Disaster-Class Hero, people with powers are based on the signs of the Zodiac. Twelve individuals, called Saints, were awakened to fight monsters threatening Earth. However, a thirteenth person, Lee Geon, also gained powers, but without the backing of a Zodiac sign. He quickly surpassed the Saints in strength, leading them to betray and abandon him. They thought he was dead, but he survived and returns after twenty years, driven by revenge. He doesn’t just want to punish those who wronged him; he’s coming after the source of their power as well.
