It’s rare, but sometimes game developers let journalists play upcoming games early. Rockstar Games did this with GTA 4, and Hideo Kojima and Konami did it for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. If the current rumors are accurate, the media will be invited to play the game at secret locations for a few days before they publish their reviews.
Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive are being careful, and that makes sense. We’ve seen a lot of GTA 6 leaks already, so they’re trying to prevent more. If even games like LEGO Batman and Forza Horizon have been leaked early, GTA 6 would be a major target – spoilers could spread quickly online from careless reviewers or people looking for attention.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be released on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Like other games made by Rockstar, the PC version will be available at a later date, after the console release.
