Okay, so I’m hearing there’s a new game coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 that’s kinda like Zelda, which is awesome! It’ll be great to play something fun while we all patiently (or not so patiently!) wait for the next official Zelda game to drop on the system. The Switch 2 hasn’t even been out a year, but people are really wanting a new Legend of Zelda adventure already!
Currently, fans with the new Switch 2 can play Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, but there isn’t a brand new, main Zelda game available yet. The good news is the Switch 2 can play all previous Zelda games released on the original Switch. While we’re still waiting to see when a new Zelda game will come to the Switch 2, an upcoming game from Square Enix looks very similar to Zelda and might be a good substitute in the meantime.
Adventures of Elliot Has Serious Zelda Vibes
Square Enix and Claytechworks are releasing a new HD-2D game called The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales on June 18th for Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. While previous Square Enix HD-2D titles like Octopath Traveler used turn-based battles, Adventures of Elliot features action-packed, real-time combat. It also includes puzzle-solving and exploration that feels a lot like The Legend of Zelda. If you’re looking for a new adventure game in the style of Zelda, especially on the Switch 2, this one is worth checking out.

In The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, players battle enemies and overcome challenges using seven unique weapons and various forms of fairy magic. The game features time travel to diverse dungeons, and players are accompanied by a fairy companion named Faie. A unique feature is the ability for a second player to control Faie in co-op mode, which could make the game even more enjoyable for a wider audience.
Early looks at The Adventures of Elliot are really promising, and it seems like a great option for fans of Zelda. The game will cost $69.99 when it launches on Switch 2 on June 18th – which is a bit expensive – but players can try it out first. A demo prologue is available, and any progress you make in the demo will transfer to the full game. If you’re a Zelda fan curious about the game, definitely check out the demo to see if The Adventures of Elliot is for you.
When is Zelda Coming to Switch 2?
Many dedicated Zelda fans are waiting for official announcements from Nintendo, and that’s perfectly reasonable. While Nintendo hasn’t officially confirmed the first Zelda game for the Switch 2, reliable sources suggest a remake of Ocarina of Time is in development and could be released this holiday season. It’s likely Nintendo will hold a Nintendo Direct presentation in June to reveal its upcoming Switch 2 games, and if so, we can expect to see the Ocarina of Time remake unveiled then. With a potential reveal of the remake and the release of the Zelda-inspired game The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, June looks to be an exciting month for fans of the Legend of Zelda series.
