In Subnautica 2, you’ll need Lithium to create Plasteel Ingots, which are essential for building the High Capacity Air Tank. Fortunately, Lithium is relatively easy to find. Look for it around volcanic vents, about 250 meters southeast of your Lifepod, inside specific caves.

In Subnautica 2, you can find Lithium in caves within the lava biome. This area is located about 250 meters south-southeast of your Lifepod. However, the extreme heat makes it inaccessible until you unlock the Heat Tolerance adaptation, which allows your character to withstand the high temperatures.
Players unlock the Heat Tolerance ability by first destroying the Bloom Cankers near the Angel Comb, which is located next to the Blackbox – Wander. Then, they need to interact with the Gene Donor after it has been cleansed.
Once you have Heat Tolerance, you can start looking for Lithium in the lava zone. From your Lifepod, turn your compass to the 120-degree mark, which is between South and Southeast, and swim straight ahead for about 250 meters. You’ll know you’re in the right area when a temperature warning appears on your screen.
Once you arrive, search the area for caves containing glowing green grass and mushrooms with thick blue stems and brown caps. You’ll find large amounts of lithium inside these caves.
All the lithium deposits I’ve discovered have been substantial and require the Sonic Resonator to extract. I haven’t come across any smaller pieces you could simply pick up, though I’m still looking.
Lithium is a bit different from other common ores like Titanium and Copper. While those typically give you 5 ore pieces per source, you’ll only find 1 or 2 Lithium ore pieces from each deposit.
You’ll only be able to detect Lithium deposits on your Scanner Station if you’re within 300 meters of them.
How to Get Plasteel Ingots
You can craft Plasteel Ingots by combining Lithium and Titanium in a Processor. As soon as you find your first Lithium ore, you’ll automatically learn how to make them.
