Xbox Game Pass and Discord Nitro are teaming up to offer benefits to their subscribers. Game Pass members will receive extra perks on Discord, and Discord Nitro subscribers will get free items from Xbox and other companies.
Discord, launched in 2015, quickly became the most popular voice and text chat app for gamers globally. It also provided a platform for game developers and companies to connect directly with their players through official servers. Originally designed for computers and mobile devices, Discord is now available on modern gaming consoles. In 2024, Xbox fully integrated Discord, giving players on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S an additional way to connect with friends, alongside Xbox’s existing chat features.
Xbox Game Pass And Discord Nitro Announce New Partnership
Following recent news about a collaboration between Xbox and Discord, both companies have announced benefits for users. The biggest perk is for Discord Nitro subscribers, who will now receive an Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) subscription as part of their Nitro membership. This new Game Pass option will be available to Nitro users in countries like the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand, and Australia.
As a Discord Nitro subscriber, I’m super excited to hear that we now get access to over 50 Xbox Game Pass games! Seriously, titles like Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, Deep Rock Galactic, and DayZ are included – that’s awesome! Plus, we get 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming each month, and even discount codes for Logitech G and SteelSeries gear. And the best part? They’re planning to add even more games to the Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) as time goes on. It’s a great perk for being a Nitro member!
Microsoft is adding some perks for Xbox Game Pass subscribers who also use Discord. Starting in May, eligible members will get 250 Discord Orbs each month – a virtual currency used to buy cosmetic items. They’ll also earn Orbs faster from Discord Quests (1.2x the normal amount) and automatically receive discounts in the Discord Shop. Currently, Discord Nitro costs $9.99 per month, with a basic plan available for $2.99. Xbox Game Pass Essential also starts at $9.99. If you have Discord Nitro Basic, you’ll need to upgrade to the full Nitro subscription to get the Xbox Game Pass benefits (Starter Edition).
Both Xbox and Discord Have Work To Do To Gain User Trust
Xbox is going through big changes that will define what the brand becomes. Since Asha Sharma became CEO, the leadership team has been revamped throughout the first half of 2026. In May, Sharma brought in people she previously worked with at Microsoft CoreAI to fill important roles at Xbox. However, she also announced that development of Copilot for Xbox consoles and mobile devices would be stopped, as it didn’t fit with the company’s long-term vision.
