On June 1st, ten games will be removed from sale and their servers shut down on both PlayStation and PC, including one game that’s been available for ten years. This means some games will become completely unplayable, which is frustrating for everyone, even if you don’t personally play them. While some games will still be playable offline, these kinds of shutdowns—like the one happening with LEGO 2K Drive—are becoming less common.
The Stop Killing Games Movement started because preserving older games is vital for the gaming industry. It’s a difficult issue – just like real-life problems. While it’s understandable that companies can’t keep servers running for every game forever due to cost and maintenance, players should still be able to enjoy titles like Anthem if they want to, but increasingly, that’s not possible. Each game shutdown is complicated, and PlayStation and PC gamers should be aware that time to play these older titles is running out.

Rec Room is Shutting Down Forever
Shutting Down on All Major Platforms
For the last two months, the popular game Rec Room has only been available to existing players. Over the past ten years, it’s gained a large following with over 150 million players, totaling 68,000 years of playtime – and some user-created rooms have seen over 500 years of activity! However, the developers at Against Gravity announced recently that the game has always cost more to run than it earned. As a result, Rec Room will be shutting down on all devices – PlayStation, PC, Xbox, Switch, and mobile – starting June 1st.

Zen Studios’ Pinball Games Are Undergoing Some Complicated Changes
Effective End of Service on PlayStation Store
It’s really sad to hear about some games disappearing. Rec Room is completely shutting down, which is tough. But with Pinball FX3, Pinball FX, and Pinball M, it’s a bit more complicated for PlayStation players, though the result is similar – we won’t be able to get them anymore. Pinball FX3 should be removed from the PlayStation Store in May (it hasn’t happened yet as of today), which basically means it’s unplayable for new people starting June 1st. Don’t worry if you already own it, you can still play and get extra tables! But, just like Pinball FX and Pinball M, those games won’t get any more support or updates on PS4 or Xbox One after June 1st either.
Horizon Chase Turbo Can No Longer Be Purchased on June 1
Shutting Down on All Major Platforms
Following the news of layoffs at Epic Games affecting over 1,000 employees, the company also announced the closure of three game modes within Fortnite and the Horizon Chase series from Aquiris Games. Starting June 1st, Horizon Chase and Horizon Chase Turbo (which are essentially the same game) will no longer be available for purchase. While Horizon Chase Turbo will remain available on platforms like PlayStation Store and Steam for a limited time, players who want to keep the game as complete as possible should consider purchasing any available downloadable content.
Tinymoon is Taking Clouzy and Tracks of the Arcana Offline
Steam: Two PC Games Shutting Down on June 1
So, I just found out that two games from a small studio called Tinymoon are getting pulled from Steam on June 1st. I actually played both! Clouzy was this super chill game where you basically run a daycare for clouds – seriously! The other one, Tracks of the Arcana, was a really cool adventure game inspired by tarot cards where you travel around in a train through space. The good news is, Clouzy will be free to download on itch.io after June 1st if you want to check it out, but after that, both games are going offline completely. Clouzy is also on the Epic Games Store right now, but since they’re putting it on itch.io for free, I’m guessing it won’t stay up on EGS for much longer. It’s a bummer, but hey, at least one of them will still be playable!
Mage Noir – Infinity
Steam: Shutting Down Forever on June 1
The digital game Mage Noir – Infinity, a free-to-play strategy game based on the Mage Noir card game, will stop functioning on June 1st. You can no longer buy anything within the game, but the physical card game itself is unaffected.

Mighty Wars
Steam: Shutting Down Forever on June 1
Gisp’s strategy game, Mighty Wars, was initially free-to-play on mobile devices but was removed from app stores. Now, it’s facing the same fate on Steam. The game’s Steam page is already gone, and online services will be discontinued on June 1st. Gisp has stated the shutdown might happen a little earlier since very few people were still playing, but once the servers are off, the game will no longer be playable.
Star Conflict
Steam: Entering Shut Down Procedures on June 1
After 13 years, the space simulation game Star Conflict is shutting down. Developers Star Gem and Gaijin Network stopped allowing new players on May 14th. Like many online games, its shutdown will be gradual to allow existing players time to finish out their experience. The developers announced the news in April, giving fans some notice. On June 1st, the game will stop receiving new content and in-game purchases, effectively removing the incentive to continue playing. While the servers will remain online for current players until October 10th, June 1st marks the real beginning of the end. For dedicated fans, this means one last summer to enjoy Star Conflict.
