These characters are being compared to a version of The Flash from the comics who usually holds back a bit. If The Flash used his full speed, he’d be almost impossibly fast – likely the fastest character in all of fiction.
The Flash, from DC Comics, is by far the most famous and recognizable superhero with super speed. First appearing in 1939, he’s become a cornerstone of the superhero genre, and almost every speedster created since has been inspired by his abilities.
The Flash is consistently one of the fastest heroes in comics. But when he’s not at 100% power, drawing on the full Speed Force, a handful of characters from popular anime (specifically, shonen anime) can actually outpace him, though the difference is slight. Here’s a look at those speedsters.
Dabura Karaba Has Shown Immense Feats Of Speed
Series: Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
Dabura, a powerful sorcerer comparable to Gojo and Sukuna, was introduced by Modulo. His unique Cursed Technique allowed complete control over light. This ability enabled him to move incredibly fast, almost at the speed of light, effectively making him invisible. Against typical versions of the Flash—those not exerting their maximum effort—Dabura would be surprisingly quick and capable.
Kizaru Is The Fastest Character In His Franchise
Series: One Piece
When it comes to speed-based battles, the speed of light is usually the ultimate limit, even for characters like the Flash. But Kizaru, from One Piece, is different – he is light. His unique ability lets him transform into light itself, moving at incredible speeds that most others can’t match. While characters like Luffy have found ways to fight against him, Kizaru is generally faster than the Flash, and can sometimes even surpass him in terms of speed.
Pucci’s Stand Makes Him An Incredible Speedster
Series: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Part 6: Stone Ocean
Pucci isn’t naturally fast, but his Stand, Made In Heaven, grants him incredible speed—so much so that no one can follow him. Made In Heaven is one of the most powerful Stands in the series, capable of accelerating both itself and the entire universe to seemingly limitless speeds. At the end of Stone Ocean, it used this ability to push reality to its limit, effectively resetting the universe. This power allows it to perform feats comparable to those of the Flash, by drastically increasing the speed of everything around it.
Saitama Is The Strongest And Fastest In The Universe
Anime: One Punch Man
Considering everything, Saitama is likely even faster than the Flash at certain moments. He’s demonstrated incredible speed, surpassing even the fastest characters in his own series, like Garou and Platinum Sperm, who are many times faster than light speed. This puts Saitama in a completely different category. Notably, during his battle with Cosmic Garou, Saitama moved faster than light simply by using the force of his fart, making him quicker than some iterations of the Flash.
Whis Travels Much Faster Than Light
Series: Dragon Ball Super
Whis is a fantastic addition to the Dragon Ball series, largely due to his incredible power. He’s the strongest and fastest character in Universe 7, moving so quickly that even Beerus, a God of Destruction, can’t keep up. Calculations suggest Whis travels billions of times faster than the speed of light, placing him among the fastest characters in fiction.
Wolfgang Schreiber Will Always Be Faster Than His Opponent
Series: Shinza Bansho
Wolfgang Schreiber is a major villain in the Shinza Bansho series, largely due to his incredibly strong ability, Niflheimr Fenriswolf. This power consistently allows him to move faster than his opponents, effectively making him untouchable. Driven by a desire to avoid any harm, he effortlessly dodges all attacks by automatically increasing his speed.
The Anti-Spiral Is Beyond Speed Itself
Series: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
I’ve been observing this entity, and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s essentially the size of a universe itself, born from the combined minds of the Anti-Spiral. When it pilots its Granzeboma Mech, it grows to thousands of times the size of a universe! At that scale, concepts like speed become almost meaningless. Even someone as fast as the Flash – any version of him, really – would be incredibly slow by comparison. It’s not a matter of being faster; at that size, the Flash wouldn’t even be a blip on its radar, and would ultimately be outmatched.
All these series can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
