Many PlayStation fans would love to see a new Jak and Daxter game. Originally created by Naughty Dog in 2001, the series is fondly remembered for its charming characters, vibrant world, and fun mix of jumping, exploring, and action. While Jak and Daxter was once a leading PlayStation title, it hasn’t seen a major release in quite some time.
Many PlayStation fans have been worried for some time that beloved games haven’t been updated or continued in over ten years. Those who enjoy series like Infamous and LittleBigPlanet are eager for new installments, and while MediEvil was remade in 2019, players are hoping for a proper sequel. This increasing desire has led to a growing conversation about whether Sony should revisit its classic franchises instead of solely concentrating on new game ideas.
Jak and Daxter Is the Classic Playstation Franchise Fans Want Sony to Revive
A recent poll by Push Square asked gamers which old PlayStation series they’d most like to see return, and Jak and Daxter came out on top with 468 votes out of nearly 3,000. The poll included 20 games, and the top five also featured Sly Cooper (340 votes), Resistance (317), Killzone (309), and MotorStorm (227). Other popular titles like Gravity Rush and WipEout each received around 170 votes, while Ape Escape garnered almost 200. Interestingly, despite rumors of a future return, the Infamous series wasn’t among the most requested.
There are a few reasons why some games on this list didn’t get as many votes. The newest Hot Shots Golf game likely appealed to existing fans who were happy to see the series return, resulting in its 43 votes. Similarly, Patapon only received around 5 votes, possibly because its spiritual successor, Ratatan, is coming out in 2026. On the other hand, games like SOCOM, Twisted Metal, and LocoRoco didn’t get many votes, probably because they haven’t had a new release in over a decade. Finally, anyone who wanted to vote for a game not on the list could use the “other” option, which received about 86 votes.

It’s been 20 years since a new main installment in the Jak and Daxter series – Jak 3. Naughty Dog has since created hugely successful games like The Last of Us and Uncharted. Many fans would love to see them return to the critically praised platforming style of Jak. Naughty Dog’s studio head, Neil Druckmann, recently shared that the team is developing a brand new game alongside work on Intergalactic. Hopefully, this new project will be an action-platformer in the spirit of the original Jak games.
Despite the fact that it’s been a while, a recent poll on Push Square shows there’s still a lot of love for the Jak and Daxter series. Fans are eager to see Naughty Dog revisit the franchise, whether through a complete remake, a remastered collection, or a brand new game. With popular platformers like Sonic, Mario, Mega Man, Ratchet & Clank, and the award-winning Astro Bot all doing well, bringing back Jak and Daxter would give players another great option and could push the genre forward. Naughty Dog has a chance to redefine platforming again, just like the original Jak and Daxter did when it launched in 2001.
