Insomniac Games has reassured fans that Marvel’s Wolverine is still scheduled to launch on September 15th. The game has been highly anticipated, and some players were starting to worry as the PlayStation 5 nears the end of its lifespan without this exclusive title. Fortunately, the wait is almost over, and gamers will be able to play Marvel’s Wolverine in just a few months.
Insomniac Games announced a release date for their upcoming Wolverine game, but has since been quiet, sharing only short gameplay snippets and teasers. They’ve promised to reveal more details before spring ends, but haven’t specified when or what those details will be. A predicted date for a dedicated Wolverine State of Play presentation passed without an announcement, but Insomniac has assured fans that development is still on track.
Insomniac Doubles Down on Wolverine’s September Release Date
Just saw a quick tweet from Insomniac confirming that Marvel’s Wolverine is still on track for September 15th, which is great news! They first told us that back in February, and it’s a relief to see it hasn’t been pushed back. Honestly, I’m guessing both Insomniac and Sony are really keen to stick to that date. September to November is a tight window, especially with Grand Theft Auto 6 dropping in November – that’s gonna be a tough one to compete with, so they probably don’t want any delays!

Fans might be disappointed, but this slow release of information is typical for Insomniac. They first announced Marvel’s Wolverine in 2021 and haven’t shared much news since. While we now have a release date and a new trailer to enjoy, there have been long periods with no updates. Insomniac has promised at least one more update before the game launches, and fans are eagerly awaiting it.
Insomniac, the studio behind the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game, has delayed taking pre-orders because they want to share more gameplay footage first. This suggests that the announcements planned for later this spring will likely include a gameplay trailer or detailed look at how the game plays. As the September release date approaches, players won’t have to wait much longer to find out more, though the exact timing of the reveal is still unknown.

It’s understandable that many PlayStation fans were eager to play Wolverine after it was first announced five years ago. However, a release near the end of the PS5’s lifespan actually makes sense. Insomniac Games launched the console with the highly-rated Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and it’s fitting they’ll also release a major Marvel game towards the end of its life. While we don’t know when the PS6 will be available, there’s still potential for the PS5 to receive more games after Wolverine comes out.
