To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its anime adaptation in 2026, a new illustration has been released for the action-comedy series Mob Psycho 100. A special event is planned for the exact anniversary of the first episode, and fans worldwide are invited to join the celebration through a global Twitter campaign. Warner Bros. Japan is making sure fans everywhere can participate in the Mob Psycho 100 festivities.
I first came across Mob Psycho 100 as a serialized work in Ura Sunday from 2012 to 2017, created by One. It quickly gained a following, but it really exploded in popularity when the anime adaptation came out in 2016. The story centers around Shigeo Kageyama, or ‘Mob,’ a young boy with amazing psychic abilities who has a hard time managing his emotions. He’s spent years keeping his feelings bottled up, and he starts working with Arataka Reigen, a bit of a charlatan who claims to be a spirit medium and wants to help Mob get his powers under control. The animation was handled by Bones, the studio behind really popular shows like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and My Hero Academia, which definitely showed in the quality. People were calling it one of the best series of the year, and even of the decade, which is high praise!
Original Mob Psycho 100 Creator Reveals New Illustration for 10th Anniversary
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Mob Psycho 100 anime, a series of celebrations are underway. The festivities began with new artwork shared on Twitter by character designer Yoshimichi Kameda and the series creator, One. A special event, the Mob Psycho 100 Anime 10th Anniversary Event, will be held on July 12th at the Fukugawa Mirai Hall in Kawaguchi, Saitama, Japan – exactly ten years after the first episode premiered. The event will feature the main voice actors and MOB CHOIR, and fans can apply for a lottery to win tickets.
Even if you can’t celebrate in Japan, you can still join the fun online! There’s a campaign happening on Twitter where fans are sharing their favorite moments from the series using the hashtag #MyMobPsycho. The hashtag theme will be updated soon, and the creators might even use some of these posts in future Mob Psycho 100 anniversary events, so keep that in mind if you participate!
I’m a huge fan of Mob Psycho 100, and it’s been amazing to see how popular it’s become! The anime really blew people away, winning awards like Best Action at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards and Best Anime at the AnimeLand Grand Prix. But it doesn’t stop there – the original manga is fantastic too! They even made a live-action Netflix series back in 2018, and there have been three stage plays performed in Japan. As of late 2022, over 2.8 million copies of the manga had been sold, which is incredible! If you want to check out the anime, you can stream it right now on Crunchyroll.
