NTE: Neverness to Everness has quickly become popular since its release on April 29, 2026. While many free-to-play ‘gacha’ games exist, NTE differentiates itself with its city setting, gameplay inspired by the GTA series, social interaction features, and diverse cast of characters. The success of these types of games often depends on how appealing the playable characters are, and Neverness to Everness has done a good job with its Espers, who are both visually impressive and fun to play.
As a big fan of NTE, I know the character list is always changing – that’s just how Gacha games work! I’m keeping track of who’s currently available to unlock. This article is basically my way of documenting all the playable characters, and I’ll also note which Espers used to be available in past banners but aren’t around right now. It’s a bit of a roster history, if you will!
We’ve excluded characters that aren’t currently available to unlock or play.
- How to get Lacrimosa? While playable at some points in the story, she is not currently unlockable.
- How to get Nanally? She was NTE‘s first banner character, which ended on May 12. She cannot be unlocked at the moment.
- How to get Hotori? The Misty Tipsy board will be active until June 3.
To unlock new characters, you’ll need special dice obtained through limited-time banners. There are two types: Red Solid Dice (from the Misty Tipsy Banner) and Blue Fabricated Dice (from the Strange Encounters Banner). You can trade 160 Annulith for either type of dice. While they sometimes appear as rewards, they’re uncommon, and the Blue Fabricated Dice seem to be given out more frequently.
How To Unlock All The Playable Characters In NTE
Okay, so we’re going to take a deep dive into each character from NTE, but first, I wanted to give you a quick overview. Here’s a list of all the Espers you can actually play as in the game – plus Aurelia, of course!

| NTE Playable Characters Who Cannot Be Unlocked Right Now | ||||
| Nanally | S-Class | Anima | April 29–May 12 | Not currently part of any banner |
As a player, I’m really excited about how NTE handles its pulls! Basically, you’re guaranteed to get an S-Class character within 90 pulls, and they even start increasing your chances after around 70 tries if you haven’t gotten one yet. What’s even better is that the banner character is also guaranteed – it’s not like those other gacha games where you have a 50/50 chance, which is a huge relief!
If you’re drawing from the standard board with several top-tier Espers, you’re guaranteed to get at least one of them within 90 tries.
If you’re trying to get a specific character on a limited-time banner, you’re guaranteed to get them within 90 tries.
Cosmos-Type Espers
Esper Zero (Aka, The Appraiser)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Cosmos
- Arc Type: Solid
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock: Automatically
Let’s start with the basics: players will choose to play as either a male or female protagonist at the beginning of the game. This character, known as “Esper Zero,” has no memory of their past and unexpectedly defeats a strange anomaly upon awakening. Because of this, the Bureau of Anomaly Control recruits them, and they begin living at the Eibon Antique Shop. Esper Zero is a versatile fighter in Neverness to Everness, able to channel energy through their sword to deal powerful Cosmos-type damage – at least, that’s what we’ve observed so far.
Not happy with the Esper Zero model you picked? No worries! NTE eventually lets you swap Appraisers.
Chiz (Aka, NTE’s Guaranteed S-Class Character)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Cosmos
- Arc Type: Gas
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Chiz: Improve City Tycoon Rank To Level 18
Chiz might be the first high-ranking Esper some players obtain, if they don’t happen to get another powerful character. However, unlocking her takes effort. You’ll automatically unlock the City Tycoon system while playing through the main story, right after finishing the Eibon mission at the photo studio. To get Chiz, who becomes available at level 18, you’ll need to complete several quests that give you Fonds – and it takes a lot of Fonds to earn her!
Edgar (Aka, The Reserved One)
- Rarity: A-Class
- Esper Type: Cosmos
- Arc Type: Liquid
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Edgar: Gacha Fair System (Ichi-Daime & Strange Encounters)
Edgar often gets lost in the shadows of his more vibrant teammates like Nanally, Taygedo, and Sakiri, and his absence from the Picture Frame battle doesn’t help. He’s available through the gacha system, but currently appears to be one of the less powerful NTE characters. However, he’s unique as one of the only Espers with a healing ability – his Ultimate creates an area that restores health to all active characters for 10 seconds. Plus, a simple level 1 awakening can boost his Skill attack by 50%.
Hotori (Aka, Eibon’s Tipsy Leader)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Cosmos
- Arc Type: Solid
- Available From: May 12, 2023
- How to Unlock Hotori: Gacha Fair System (Misty Tipsy)
Now that Nanally’s banner has ended, Hotori is the star! The latest in-game board, Misty Tipsy, is all about her, and she even has a brand new skin. While Haniel, Skia, and Aurelia are also featured, they’re more of a warm-up for the main attraction: Hotori. Thanks to the game’s pity system, you’re guaranteed to unlock her within 90 pulls, counting any attempts you made on Nanally’s banner.
Hotori, the leader of Eibon, is a strong character, and her gameplay reflects that. She controls time with her abilities, making her a strategic Esper in NTE. While she’s still new, and much is yet to be discovered, players will learn more about her as they unlock her content.
You have until June 3, 2026, to get Hotori. If you want her, start working toward her.
Anima-Type Espers
Jiuyuan (Aka, The Rose Philosopher)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Anima
- Arc Type: Solid
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Jiuyuan: Gacha Fair System (Strange Encounters)
Jiuyuan from Sterry Express is a standout character, and it’s not just about how strong she is in battle. She exudes confidence and elegance in both her appearance and how she carries herself, with a hint of mysteriousness that adds to her appeal. In combat, she’s a versatile fighter, mixing close-range attacks with two pistols – a style reminiscent of Bayonetta or Dante, but with her own unique flair. While she doesn’t have the same level of depth as those iconic characters, she’s incredibly enjoyable to play and can easily carry a team. Currently, she’s my go-to character, second only to Esper Zero.
Mint (Aka, The First Friend)
- Rarity: A-Class
- Esper Type: Anima
- Arc Type: Liquid
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Mint: Automatically (Story)
Besides Taygedo, Mint is the first prominent character introduced in Neverness to Everness. She plays a major role for the first part of the story. Mint is a cheerful cat girl who sometimes feels stressed by her responsibilities. She quickly becomes Esper Zero’s best friend and mentor, teaching them (and the player) how to fight and introducing them to the other characters in Eibon. As a freely available character in Neverness to Everness, you don’t need to obtain her through the gacha system, but you’ll need duplicate copies to unlock her full potential. Mint is designed as a damage dealer (DPS) and shouldn’t be underestimated – she’s powerful and has a devastating Ultimate ability that can be improved by unlocking her awakening abilities.
Chaos-Type Espers
Daffodill (Aka, The Mysterious And Cool One)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Chaos
- Arc Type: Liquid
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Daffodill: Gacha Fair System (Strange Encounters)
Daffodill, a member of Eibon, has one of the best designs of any character in the game so far—her outfit is particularly striking. She wields two blades, giving her more basic attack choices than most other characters, and she can break down enemy shields quickly and efficiently.
Incantation-Type Espers
Adler (Aka, The Deadly Butler)
- Rarity: A-Class
- Esper Type: Incantation
- Arc Type: Synthesis
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Adler: Automatically (Story)
After Mint brings the Appraiser to Eibon, they first encounter Adler, a refined and courteous Esper who battles using a cane and summoned phantoms. Adler is designed as a defensive wall—his defense is significantly higher than his attack power—and one of his abilities even increases it by 20%. Like Mint, Adler is unlocked automatically, rounding out the initial team of three. He works well with Mint and the Appraiser, supporting their damage-dealing strengths.
Baicang (Aka, The Silver-Haired Captain)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Incantation
- Arc Type: Synthesis
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Baicang: Gacha Fair System (Strange Encounters)
Baicang, the first character players encounter as the Appraiser, strikes a balance between relaxed and refined. He’s a captain within the Bureau of Anomaly Control and one of the most powerful Espers in the game and its universe. Players can’t battle Baicang during the introductory stages like they can with characters like Lacrimosa, Skia, and Fadia. Instead, they’ll need to obtain him through the Fabricated Dice system, as he’s featured on that board. Being an S-Rank character, he’s naturally very difficult to acquire.
Sakiri (Aka, The Charming Rebel)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Incantation
- Arc Type: Gas
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Sakiri: Gacha Fair System (Strange Encounters)
Sakiri is a top-tier character who truly delivers on the hype, and many players already consider her a potential frontrunner for the strongest character in the game. While you don’t unlock her right away, you get a taste of her abilities during the Picture Frame boss fight – she’s one of four characters who can participate. She fights alongside Kiroumaru, a powerful entity with an ability similar to Kirby’s inhale, and she expertly uses this to her advantage. Sakiri has a fun dynamic with Nanally and enjoys playfully teasing Taygedo.
Lakshana-Type Espers
Hathor (Aka, The Angel Operative)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Lakshana
- Arc Type: Plasma
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Hathor: Gacha Fair System (Strange Encounters)
Hathor, who works for Sterry Express, has a striking design, considered one of the most memorable in Neverness to Everness, alongside Daffodill. Her look features a bold black and white color scheme, with details like angel wings, fingerless gloves, tattoos, and flowing tendrils. She also wears a noticeable gold amulet. Based on available information, Hathor is a damage dealer (DPS) who should be effective at both direct attacks and breaking enemy defenses, and she’s durable enough to take some damage herself.
Skia (Aka, The Canine Captain)
- Rarity: A-Class
- Esper Type: Lakasha
- Arc Type: Gas
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Skia: Gacha Fair System (Strange Encounters)
Following Lacrimosa, Skia is the second playable character from NTE. He stands out with his unique design and a combat style that lets you fight freely, even using shadows to your advantage. Although Lacrimosa won’t be available right away, Skia can be obtained through the game’s gacha system – I was lucky enough to get him! As a prominent and respected member of the Bureau of Anomaly Control, Skia is a powerful fighter who excels at dealing damage thanks to his strong attacks and high health.
Psyche-Type Espers
Fadia (Aka, The Gothic Captain)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Psyche
- Arc Type: Synthesis
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Fadia: Gacha Fair System (Strange Encounters)
Fadia is the third playable character in NTE, joining Skia and Baicang as one of the game’s captains featured in the exciting opening. Players can unlock her through the game’s random draw system (or guarantee her with enough rolls to achieve S-Rank). While her attack and defense are balanced, Fadia is built to be a durable tank, absorbing damage that would otherwise hit her allies. She’s still capable of dealing significant damage, though!
Haniel (Aka, The Welcome Gift)
- Rarity: A-Class
- Esper Type: Psyche
- Arc Type: Solid
- Available From: April 29, 2026
- How to Unlock Haniel: Automatically (Pre-Registration Bonus) Or Through The Gacha System
Most of the characters you can get for free are unlocked as you progress through the story, but there are a couple of exceptions. Haniel is one of them – she was given to players who pre-registered for the game. You should find her, along with some other free items, in your in-game mail.
If you didn’t sign up beforehand or couldn’t log in when Haniel was first released, you can still get him through the Fair system with a one-in-a-million roll. It seems like this roll might happen automatically, because the game uses Haniel to show players how to unlock and improve their characters’ abilities.
Haniel is clearly designed to appeal to the typical “gamer” personality, and she even comes across as a playful exaggeration of Gen Z, right down to the slogan on her shirt. Despite this, she’s a really strong character to play, offering long-range attacks that are different from the other free options. She’s also well-rounded, with both high attack and defense capabilities, making her one of the most balanced characters in the game.
Aurelia (Aka, The 3-Day Log-In Reward)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Psyche
- Arc Type: TBA
- Available From: May 1, 2026
- How to Unlock Aurelia: Log In For 3 Days Straight
Aurelia is an A-Rank Psyche character given to players who play for three days straight. She’s the easiest character to unlock, aside from the starting characters and possibly Haniel – you just need to launch into NTE for three consecutive days. While she doesn’t have a lot of HP, her attack and defense are both strong and well-rounded. She’s a ranged attacker who fights similarly to a water mage.
NTE Playable Characters Who Currently Cannot Be Unlocked
Nanally (Aka, The Loading Page Girl)
- Rarity: S-Class
- Esper Type: Anima
- Arc Type: Plasma
- Available From: April 29, 2026–May 12, 2026
- How to Unlock Nanally: Impossible
Players will encounter several unique characters, including Nanally, who was once associated with Eibon. Nanally is a particularly memorable character – she’s energetic, playful, and generally well-liked. Though you can play as her during the Picture Frame boss fight, she won’t be immediately available afterward. To unlock her, players need to use the Fair system, but she isn’t currently featured in any active banners, as her initial promotional period ended on May 12th.
