With each new chapter, the One Piece manga is getting closer to its ending. The latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump (Issue 24), featuring chapter 1182, brought the Elbaph Arc to a peak moment by introducing a powerful new character, Rain God Zaza. Creator Eiichiro Oda used this introduction to hint at the Devil Fruit power of a potential future member of the Straw Hat crew and to add more detail to the history of the powerful beings that exist within the world of One Piece. These developments are all important as the Elbaph Arc nears its end and the story moves towards its final stages.
One Piece Chapter 1182 Sets Up A God Power For Nefertari Vivi By Connecting Her Directly To Rain God Zaza
After years of anticipation, One Piece Chapter 1182 finally revealed Rain God Zaza. This reveal came after Sun God Nika was introduced in Chapter 1044 (March 2022) during the Wano Country Arc, leading fans to speculate about other deities mentioned earlier in the story. Chapter 287 originally showcased several Gods, including the Sun God Nika, the Forest God, and the Earth God, all confirmed by author Eiichiro Oda during the Noland and Kalgara flashback, when Musse was about to be sacrificed to them.
“Spirits of the sun, rain, forest, and earth, accept this offering and protect our village from ruin.” — Shandian Elder, One Piece Chapter 187
After many years, Eiichiro Oda has finally revealed Rain God Zaza in Elbaph, bringing a long-running storyline full circle. Zaza is now confirmed as a real god within the world of One Piece, currently existing in a dormant state as the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. Similar to how the Sun God Nika exists through the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, awakened by the desire for freedom, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza is manifested by the desire for rain. And there’s only one place in One Piece that desperately needs rain: Arabasta. This was established early in the Arabasta arc, where the entire plot revolved around Crocodile stealing Arabasta’s rain, causing widespread starvation, death, and a desperate plea for rainfall.
Interestingly, One Piece Chapter 1182 introduced the Rain God Zaza as a goddess, suggesting a strong connection to Nefertari Vivi, the current leader of Arabasta. This seems especially relevant as the story moves closer to the Final War.
Okay, so in One Piece Chapter 1182, this absolutely incredible character, Saint Killingham, just appears with this amazing, almost mystical timing – like he’s answering the prayers for rain! And everyone’s calling him ‘Rain God Zaza’! It’s such a dramatic reveal, honestly, and it’s got me so hyped to see what happens next!
Why Vivi Becoming The Rain God Suits The One Piece Narrative
In the manga One Piece, Nefertari Vivi is a strong contender to be revealed as the user of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. Several clues support this idea, most notably the connection between Vivi’s story and the desert kingdom of Arabasta. Arabasta is uniquely defined by its desperate need for rain, and the legend of the Rain God being summoned through those pleas. Throughout the series, Arabasta is the only kingdom shown explicitly praying for rain, making it the most logical place for the Rain God, Zaza, to have appeared in the past. It naturally fits that a deity associated with rain would manifest in a kingdom plagued by drought.
The rain is returning, and thankfully, the terrible ordeal is finally finished! — Nefertari Vivi, One Piece Chapter 210
Interestingly, the being known as the Rain God is actually a goddess. Chapter 1182 of One Piece revealed her true form as a woman, suggesting she was a powerful female figure during the Void Century. This aligns with the history of Nefertari Lily, the former queen of Arabasta. Lily initially fought alongside the 20 Kings but later rebelled against the world’s oppressive forces, disappearing and leaving control of Arabasta to her brother – the ancestor of Cobra and Vivi.
Evidence from One Piece chapter 1182 and the Arabasta arc strongly suggests that Nefertari Lily once possessed the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. It’s also interesting that both Lily and Vivi share a blue hair color in their designs, mirroring the blue often associated with Rain God Zaza, a water deity. Notably, Vivi’s story in Arabasta concluded in chapter 210 with her ending the civil war and bringing rain to Alubarna after years of drought – a moment that feels like deliberate foreshadowing from creator Eiichiro Oda. This hints that Vivi may inherit the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza, and potentially join the Straw Hat Pirates in the Final Saga.

How Nefertari Vivi Will Aid The Straw Hat Pirates In The Final Saga After Elbaph
It’s highly probable that Nefertari Vivi will rejoin the Straw Hat Pirates during the Final Saga. Eiichiro Oda hinted at this reunion early in the Elbaph arc (Chapter 1130), right after the crew landed in Warland. Vivi subtly signaled her willingness to reconnect by marking an ‘X’ on a newspaper image of Luffy, showing both that she’s safe and eager to be with them again.
Robin was reading a message from Vivi to Luffy, and she noticed something interesting. She wondered if Luffy gets a specific ‘X’ mark on his arm when he transforms. It’s hard to tell because he moves so fast, but she could clearly see the mark on his hand in the message!
When Vivi rejoins Luffy and the crew, she’s expected to fight against the Celestial Dragons and the World Government, following in the footsteps of her ancestor, Nefertari Lily. Considering Luffy’s status as the Sun God Nika, some fans believe Vivi will embody the Rain God Zaza, wielding the power of rain to strike fear into the hearts of their enemies. Recent story hints, including Loki’s decision to remain in Elbaph, suggest Vivi is the most likely candidate to become the final member of the Straw Hat crew. If she joins, Eiichiro Oda could be adding an incredibly powerful Devil Fruit user to the team – another being with god-like abilities – making the Straw Hats even more formidable as they prepare to battle Nerona Imu and his forces.
