In the game Directive 8020, players frequently find themselves in stressful situations, trying to survive encounters with mimics and alien creatures in the dark. For example, in Episode 4, immediately after an ambush by Simms, the Drawbridge section begins, and players controlling Young and Cooper get split up.
The bridge ahead is essential to continue, but it’s currently without power. You’ll need to restore electricity to it first. This area doesn’t have any items to collect, but the following guide for Directive 8020 will show you how to get the power back on and find the Fuel Cell you need.
How to Restore Power to the Drawbridge in Directive 8020
After Cooper tells you to power up the bridge in the cutscene, you’ll need to get through the area while avoiding Simms. Whenever your scan recharges, use it to highlight nearby enemies, so you can crouch and sneak past them safely. Remember that enemies often check areas you’ve already been, so watch their patrol routes before moving ahead.
Although you see the objective marker on the bridge, don’t go there yet – it doesn’t have power. Instead, head to the Control Room on the left side of the area. Go through the open doorway and you’ll find an empty space that needs a Fuel Cell.
To get the Fuel Cell, go to the locked door close by. Solve the quick puzzle to open it, then continue forward – you’ll find the Fuel Cell right in front of you.
When you take the Fuel Cell, an enemy will show up close by. Hide behind something and wait for them to leave before going back to the Control Room. Put the Fuel Cell into the correct slot to bring power back to the bridge.
When the power comes back on, the enemy will try to come in the same way you did. Don’t go back that way – instead, use the override door to get back towards the bridge. Activate the door to create a path, then quickly run across to finish this part.
