AMD Says FSR 4.1 Will Come to Older RDNA 3 GPUs in July and RDNA 2 in 2027

AMD is bringing its latest FSR 4.1 upscaling technology to older graphics cards. An update scheduled for July will add support for RDNA 3 GPUs, letting more users experience improved visual performance.

For a while, AMD’s Fidelity Super Resolution 4.1 (FSR 4.1) was only available on the Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards, which first came out in 2025. You needed an RX 9070 or RX 9060 to experience the improved upscaling and frame generation. However, AMD appears to have changed its plans and is no longer keeping it exclusive.

According to Jack Huynh, a senior executive at AMD, the latest version of FidelityFX Super Resolution, FSR 4.1, will be available for RDNA 3 graphics cards in July and will work with more than 300 different games.

I’m not sure why AMD is doing this, but I’m guessing it has something to do with the problems we’ve been seeing with RAM. Honestly, GPU sales have basically stalled, and maybe AMD is hoping that adding FSR 4.1 to their older RDNA 3 cards will get people interested in buying used or older GPUs again. It could really give the second-hand market a boost!

This update will improve the performance of the already powerful RX 7000 Series graphics cards. While it won’t match the speed of the newer 9000 Series (which have dedicated AI features), it should offer a noticeable boost and open up some interesting possibilities.

There’s more good news: AMD announced that their RDNA 2 graphics cards will receive FSR 4.1 technology, though it won’t be available until the beginning of 2027. This update will also give a performance boost to owners of the RX 6000 Series cards.
