Battlefield 6 offers a wide variety of infantry weapons, and while they can all get the job done, some are more effective and reliable than others. Because of how the game balances weapons, no single gun is perfect for every situation. However, a few come close, and this guide will help you choose a primary weapon that fits your playstyle for your next match.
Best Assault Rifle in BF6 Season 3
M16A4
- Damage: 25 (16 minimum at range)
- Fire Rate: 771 RPM
- Muzzle Velocity: 720 m/s
- Notable Traits: Extremely reliable burst-fire weapon at all ranges; can be converted into a fully-automatic weapon
The M16A4 is a consistently solid weapon in Battlefield 6, and that’s what makes it so effective. It doesn’t quite match the rapid fire rate of the VCR2 or the raw power of the TR-7, but it performs reliably in most common combat situations, making it competitive against any other assault rifle in the game.
The M16A4 in Battlefield 6 is a very accurate weapon with manageable recoil and a fast rate of fire, making it effective against enemies at close and medium distances. It initially fires in bursts, but you can add the A3 Receiver to switch it to full automatic fire. This attachment is expensive at 25 points, but the M16A4 remains a powerful weapon when used as intended.
Best Assault Rifle Runner-Ups
- The M433 remains a trusty weapon that excels at close quarters. Its high fire rate and moderate recoil make it difficult to use against anyone further than 30 meters away, but it can still get the job done with a bit of practice and trigger discipline.
- The B36A4 has significantly lower recoil than the M16A4 and M433, and it sits in a nice spot right in the middle of every Assault Rifle in BF6. It’s the ultimate jack-of-all-trades for this category, but it loses to the M16A4 simply because of its lower fire rate (720 vs 771 RPM).
- The Kord 6P67 deserves a special mention for being a fast-firing, low-recoil laser beam, but due to its low damage of just 20 per bullet, it falls a tiny bit short of the other ARs mentioned here. It will often feel like the Kord just isn’t killing targets as well as the other ARs are at close range.
Best Carbine in BF6 Season 3
M277
- Damage: 25 (20 minimum at range)
- Fire Rate: 720 RPM
- Muzzle Velocity: 624 m/s
- Notable Traits: Excellent long-range performance without compromising close-range effectiveness
I used to think the M277 Carbine was the worst gun in Battlefield 6, even though it was my personal favorite. However, after some major improvements to its recoil, it’s now much more reliable.
The M277 stands out because it’s one of the few weapons in the game that maintains its full damage up to 75 meters.
Unlike other carbines which lose effectiveness after just 8-10 meters, the M277 can consistently deliver its full damage at a distance, with very little damage fall-off.
The M277 rifle still has noticeable recoil, so players should try to control it as much as possible. While it doesn’t kick as strongly to the right as before, it still packs a punch. You can reliably take down enemies in close to mid-range (30-40 meters) with quick bursts, but beyond that distance, you’ll need to switch to single shots for better accuracy.
Best Carbine Runner-Ups
- The SG553 is a closer-ranged version of the M277. It sacrifices damage over long ranges for a three-shot-kill damage profile within 8 meters as well as a much tamer recoil pattern. The SG553 is better-suited for smaller maps than the M277, but in most cases, the two weapons will feel more or less the same within the average 30–40-meter engagement ranges in BF6.
- The M4A1 remains a solid pick, but following some recoil nerfs it received in BF6 S3, it’s no longer as reliable in medium range compared to before.
- The M417 A2 is the true alternative to the M277 — while it lacks the close-range effectiveness of the SG553, it is a very reliable weapon at medium to long ranges because of its steady fire rate and even steadier recoil pattern (especially when attachments are used).
Best SMG in BF6 Season 3
SCW-10
- Damage: 33 (14 minimum at range)
- Fire Rate: 800 RPM
- Muzzle Velocity: 428 m/s
- Notable Traits: A compact weapon with an absolutely diabolical close-range damage profile
Even after some adjustments to control its kick, the SCW-10 is still a strong SMG in BF6. It deals a lot of damage and fires quickly. While it can sometimes jump to the right when you shoot, this isn’t a big problem at close range—around 20 meters, which is perfect for SMGs in this game. The small magazine and slow reload make it tough to take on multiple enemies at once, but upgrading to larger magazines makes it one of the best weapons in the game.
Best SMG Runner-Ups
- The PW5A3 is arguably the best SMG if what you’re looking for is pure consistency. It shares the same damage and fire rate values as the M16A4 (albeit with less range), and when you set it up for minimal recoil, the PW5A3 can beam people down from a range that shouldn’t be feasible for a gun this size.
- The CZ3A1 bridges the gap between the fast-firing KV9 and the hard-hitting SCW-10, and while it doesn’t kill as quickly as these two, it’s a much more forgiving weapon because of its default 30-round magazine.
Best LMG in BF6 Season 3
DRS-IAR
- Damage: 25 (16 minimum at range)
- Fire Rate: 771 RPM
- Muzzle Velocity: 720 m/s
For the third season, the DRS-IAR remains the top Light Machine Gun in BF6. While it functions similarly to an Assault Rifle, it’s more adaptable than any other LMG. It fires faster than other AR-style LMGs and is easier to control than traditional belt-fed options. Plus, you can customize it to provide long-range suppressive fire when needed.
The DRS performs very similarly to the M16A4 (and somewhat like the PW5A3), and it’s incredibly easy to handle. It’s a solid choice for a weapon, but if you need a traditional machine gun for sustained fire, you might want to consider other options.
Best LMG Runner-Ups
- The L110 is an excellent pick for players who want to use an actual machine gun. Its fast fire rate, moderate damage, and 100-round default box magazine make it suitable for every scenario.
- The M240L and M121 A2 are monstrous at close range. Both weapons feel roughly the same in terms of recoil and overall handling, and they share the same damage profile too. These LMGs are great if you want to hold down short sightlines, and if you ever get jumped by the enemy, you can easily turn things around with their hard-hitting bullets that hit for 33 damage up close.
- The M250 can kill infantry with four hits to the body from any range. It’s great if you want a lethal long-ranged LMG that can also handle CQB well, but its recoil can be a bit hard to control unless you’re using a bipod.
Best DMR in BF6 Season 3
SVK 6.8
The SVK 6.8 is unique among DMRs in BF6 because it can eliminate an enemy with just two body shots, making it potentially the simplest weapon of its type to master. While it has significant recoil and a slower firing rate, these drawbacks are often less important than its ability to quickly take down opponents with accurate shots to the chest.
Best DMR Runner-Up
- The GRT-CPS is the exact opposite of the SVK, but that doesn’t mean it’s terrible. This rifle may not hit as hard as the other DMRs, but with its high fire rate, low recoil, and good accuracy even while spamming shots, the GRT-CPS is perfect for players who prefer accuracy through volume of fire rather than precision.
Best Sniper Rifle in BF6 Season 3
L115
- Damage: 100 (120–150m sweet spot range)
- Fire Rate: 46 RPM
- Muzzle Velocity: 703 m/s
Even though the L115 Sniper Rifle doesn’t have the best numbers, it remains the best choice for a few key reasons:
- Its high fire rate makes it just as capable as the Mini Scout when it comes to hitting follow-up shots.
- The L115’s long sweet spot range keeps it lethal from farther away despite having the lowest muzzle velocity of all Sniper Rifles in BF6.
While experienced snipers might not be impressed with the L115’s bullet speed, it’s a versatile weapon. It performs well in close-quarters combat thanks to its rapid fire, but still has the power to eliminate enemies with a single shot to the chest at long distances. Just remember you’ll need to aim ahead of moving targets more with this gun.
Best Sniper Rifle Runner-Ups
- The Mini Scout is still the best Sniper Rifle in BF6 for aggressive Recon players. It comes with an ADS Bolt by default, and its staggering 1000 m/s muzzle velocity means you barely have to lead your shots. However, the Mini Scout is heavily affected by bullet drag, which means its bullets lose much of their speed once the longer they travel through the air. The L115 is better at dealing with drag (especially when equipped with Long-Range ammo), and it fires at a flatter trajectory as well.
- The M2010 is practically the same as the L115, except it has a faster muzzle velocity and slower fire rate. It’s perfect for long-range sniping, and if you don’t particularly care about sweet spots, then you’re better off taking this than the L115.
Best Shotgun in BF6
M87A1
- Damage: 134
- Fire Rate: 94 RPM
- 1HK Range: ~15 meters
For players looking for a shotgun that can quickly eliminate enemies with a single chest shot, the M87A1 is the top choice. It can instantly defeat opponents within a 15-meter range, and skilled players who can consistently land quick shots will find it superior to all other shotguns in Battlefield 6. While it might not be the best against groups of enemies, in close-quarters combat, few weapons can match its power.
Best Shotgun Runner-Up
- The M1014 is the only other shotgun in Battlefield 6 that can instantly kill players with a solid hit to the chest. However, it has a much shorter 1HK range than the M87A1, so the M1014 will feel a lot less consistent compared to its pump-action counterpart. Still, this gun is more forgiving than the M87A1, as it punishes its users less for missing shots due to its 200 RPM fire rate and semi-auto action.
