Best RPK74M Builds in BF6

The RPK-74M is a light machine gun in Battlefield 6 that prioritizes accuracy and consistent long-range fire over raw power. While it won’t eliminate enemies as quickly as some other guns, it’s excellent for taking down targets from a distance with a steady stream of bullets. The RPK-74M performs well with minimal attachments, but this guide will show you the best build we’ve found in BF6 to maximize its potential.

Best RPK-74M Build in BF6

Muzzle Long Suppressor
Barrel Heavy Extended
Underbarrel 6H64 Vertical Grip
Magazine 50-round Magazine
Ammo Frangible (Optional)
Ergonomics Aftermarket Buffer (Optional)
Sight Any 3x Optic

This particular version of the BF6 RPK-74M is designed to be a highly accurate weapon for medium to long-range combat. It’s built to quickly eliminate several enemies without needing to reload, similar to the KTS-100 and RPKM, but with a significantly faster firing rate.

Honestly, this setup doesn’t need a ton of attachments to be good, but it’ll seriously boost how well this gun performs at long range – we’re talking picking off guys from 50 to 100 meters. It just makes everything feel smoother and more accurate when you’re lining up those long shots.

  • The Long Suppressor reduces recoil build-up and improves recoil recovery, which means we’ll be able to shoot longer bursts before the RPK-74M reaches the peak of its recoil pattern. It will also keep us off the enemy’s minimap without exposing our position through 3D spotting.
  • The Heavy Extended barrel boosts our muzzle velocity all the way to 1050 m/s. That’s faster than most Sniper Rifles in BF6. It also allows us to fire longer bursts without having weapon bloom mess up our accuracy. This is the best attachment to use for any weapon that you plan on using from the flanks or the backlines of your team.
  • The 6H64 Grip may seem like overkill, but since we’re using a magnified optic, you’re going to want more recoil reduction regardless. You can swap this for any of the stubby or angled grips for better ADS speed.
  • The 50-Round Magazine will put the RPK-74M more in-line with some of the belt-fed LMGs in BF6 without compromising your mobility and handling stats any more than necessary.
  • Frangible Ammo is mostly for supporting your team. This will delay the innate health regeneration of any target you hit, forcing them to seek a medic bag or wait the effect out. Allternatively, you can go with Penetration Ammo so you can better take care of enemies that are lined up when flanking.
  • The Aftermarket Buffer will reduce the visual recoil you experience while firing. This is very noticeable on the RPK-74M when you’re using a magnified optic, and it may help you hit your shots more consistenly.
  • Using magnified optics is a no-brainer when you’re rocking a long-ranged weapon. Any of the 3x scopes will do, though you can go higher if you want, though I suggest not going any lower than that just so you have a better picture of the people you’re trying to shoot.

Should You Use Synthetic Tips on the RPK-74M in BF6?

I haven’t tested Synthetic Tips with the RPK-74M myself, but it looks like this ammo is only really useful if you’re using the gun for close to medium-range fights. It increases headshot damage from 21 to 75 meters to 30, allowing for a 4-shot headshot kill. However, consistently landing four headshots in a row at that range with this gun is difficult, so it might be more practical to aim for the body instead.

If you’re fighting up close or at medium range (within about 20 meters), using Synthetic Tips will increase your headshot damage to 35, letting you eliminate enemies with just three headshots. This makes the RPK-74M more effective in close-quarters combat, but it relies on landing consistent headshots, which can be challenging.

Close-Range RPK-74M Build

Muzzle CQB Suppressor
Accessory 20-point Green Laser
Barrel Basic
Underbarrel Adjustable Angled Grip
Magazine 30-round Magazine
Ammo Lightweight
Sight Any close-range optic

If you liked using the AK74 in Battlefield 3, you’ll probably enjoy this setup. It lets you move quickly around the map with an RPK-74M, focusing on running and hip-firing instead of staying in one place. While you might still get outgunned by players using SMGs and other close-quarters weapons, it’s a fun way to play if you prefer using a classic AK-style rifle aggressively.

  • The CQB Suppressor and 50mw Green Laser will make the RPK-74M more than competent for use as a hipfire-based weapon. You’ll be accurate up to the 10-meter mark with this combo, and if you want to be even more accurate, drop your red dot sight and go for the Short Barrel attachment.
  • The Adjustable Angled Grip provides just enough recoil reduction on top of cutting our ADS time by 50ms. This will let you snap to your targets faster without eating up too many of your attachment points.
  • Lightweight Ammo increases your ADS move speed multiplier to x0.75. With this, you’ll be able to strafe in and out of cover more quickly, giving you a mobility advantage against targets who are shooting at you from far away. It’ll throw your enemies off guard too during regular battles.
  • Close range sights with zoom levels between 1.0 and 2.0 will help with target acquisition, though you can always just go with your iron sights if you think you don’t need a red dot on your gun.

For close-quarters combat with the RPK-74M, Synthetic Tips are a great addition. They significantly reduce your time-to-kill (TTK) to just 0.17 seconds if you consistently hit headshots within 20 meters. However, equipping Synthetic Tips means you’ll need to remove the Green Laser. While I haven’t tested this specific setup myself, the playstyle should feel similar to other weapons that use Synthetic Tips, like the PW5A3 or L85A3. So, choose whichever weapon feels best for you and give it a try!

I tested an RPK-74M setup for close-range combat without any hip-fire improvements, and it made me realize how much I need a laser sight and the CQB Suppressor. This gun isn’t very effective at short distances, so if you can’t win a direct firefight, you’re better off trying to flank or outplay your opponent.
