The Z-Fighters were completely overwhelmed when Black Frieza arrived at the conclusion of the Granolah the Survivor Saga, instantly becoming the strongest being in the universe. He defeated Awakened Gas in seconds and, with a single blow, knocked out both Goku in his True Ultra Instinct form and Vegeta in his Ultra Ego form. At this point, Black Frieza is powerful enough to defeat and even kill some of the strongest Gods in the Dragon Ball universe.
When the Dragon Ball Super manga returns after its break, the heroes will have to confront Black Frieza. Luckily, Goku and Vegeta have been training constantly, and the other powerful fighters in Dragon Ball Super are stronger than ever with their new transformations. Black Frieza is the most powerful villain the Dragon Ball series has seen, and only its strongest characters stand a chance against him.
6. Orange Piccolo is the Strongest He’s Ever Been
Piccolo has challenged Frieza’s strength before, and this might be the final time. He first surpassed Frieza during the Namek saga by merging with Nail. Now, after many years, Orange Piccolo has reached a comparable power level once more. According to Toyotarou, Orange Piccolo is now as strong as powerful fighters like Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, Beast Gohan, Ultra Ego Vegeta, and Goku with Perfected Ultra Instinct.
While Piccolo is powerful, it’s doubtful he’ll be the one to finally defeat Black Frieza, considering how much Dragon Ball Super focuses on the Saiyans. He was the central figure in Super Hero, though, not Gohan. Once the Black Frieza arc starts, Orange Piccolo has plenty of strength to put up a good fight. However, expect his efforts to mainly serve as a stepping stone for the Saiyans. Even if that happens, simply lasting against Black Frieza would be an impressive accomplishment, more than many incredibly strong anime characters could manage.
5. Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku Could Go 3 For 3 Against Frieza
While Goku is the central figure in Dragon Ball, he hasn’t been the strongest fighter for quite a while. Despite this, he continues to train relentlessly, always striving to become more powerful. After losing to Black Frieza on Planet Cereal, Goku focused on improving his physical condition through training with Whis. Although Vegeta surpassed him at the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Goku’s control over Perfected Ultra Instinct has reached a completely new level.
In the latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super, Gohan Beast manages to knock Goku out of his Perfected Ultra Instinct form. While it’s a temporary setback for Goku, he quickly re-enters the form, demonstrating improved control over it – almost like switching between transformations. He’s even able to combine Super Saiyan powers with Ultra Instinct for an even greater increase in strength. When they fight again, Goku will be prepared, and Black Frieza will have to exert a lot more effort if he wants to defeat his long-standing rival.
4. Ultra Ego Vegeta is Far Stronger Than Anyone Realizes
Vegeta shares a unique and intense history with Frieza, making him the most fitting character to finally defeat Black Frieza. With the power he’s gained in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, he may now be strong enough to do so. Although he doesn’t have the same natural potential as characters like Broly or Gohan, Vegeta compensates with relentless dedication and training. Dragon Ball Super is finally recognizing and rewarding his perseverance.
Vegeta’s new Ultra Ego form, achieved during the Granolah the Survivor Saga, finally puts him on equal footing with Goku’s Ultra Instinct. Surprisingly, Vegeta reached this level with less training than Goku, and he’s already as strong as Goku in his mastered form. Plus, Vegeta decisively won a one-on-one fight against Goku in the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, meaning his normal state is currently more powerful. If Vegeta fully masters Ultra Ego, it could be the power he needs to finally match Frieza, after being defeated by him on the Cereal planet.
3. Legendary Super Saiyan Broly is Frieza’s Worst Nightmare
Gohan used to be considered the Saiyan with the greatest potential, but now that title goes to Broly. From the moment he was born, Broly had an incredibly high Power Level of 10,000. He was even stronger than Goku and Vegeta in their God forms, even without transforming! It took both of them fusing into Gogeta just to have a chance, and even then, Gogeta needed to go Super Saiyan Blue to win. When Broly reaches his full power, he’s nearly impossible to defeat. Similar to Ultra Ego, Broly’s Legendary Super Saiyan form makes him grow stronger the longer a battle lasts.
Broly struggles to control himself when he transforms, but he’s currently training with Goku and Vegeta on Beerus’ Planet to get better. He recently made significant progress while fighting Gohan in his Beast form. If Broly fully masters his power, he could become the threat Frieza has always dreaded. He’s already defeated Golden Frieza once in the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly, so it’s reasonable to wonder if he could do it again against Black Frieza.

2. Gohan Beast is the Most Powerful Z-Fighter Right Now
Gohan experienced a massive power boost when he achieved his Beast form in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, going from one of the weaker Saiyans to an incredibly powerful fighter. Orange Piccolo stated that Gohan Beast was the only one capable of defeating Cell Max. The Dragon Ball Super manga further enhances Gohan’s strength, showcasing incredible feats like knocking Goku out of his Perfected Ultra Instinct form in Chapter 103.
I’ve been watching Gohan’s power grow, and it’s incredible. He managed to fight Legendary Super Saiyan Broly with ease – something neither Goku nor Vegeta could do. His Beast form even sparked an all-out battle between Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Goten, and Trunks, and everything suggests he came out on top. Right now, Gohan seems to be the strongest of all the Z-Fighters, which makes him the biggest danger to Black Frieza.
1. Beerus Has Never Been Beaten in a Straight-Up Fight
Black Frieza has reached a power level comparable to Beerus, but this also means Beerus is vulnerable. Beerus, the strongest God of Destruction, hasn’t been defeated in a real fight (except for a playful arm wrestling match with Quitela). The manga shows all the Gods of Destruction battling each other, and although the fight isn’t finished, it suggests Beerus would have ultimately won.
Beerus is unique among Gods of Destruction because he can use Ultra Instinct, allowing him to wield both Angelic and Destructive abilities. Given how easily he beat Goku and Vegeta, Black Frieza would likely push Beerus to his limits – possibly even forcing him to unleash his full power.
