In Subnautica 2, you’ll need Fibrous Pulp to create Fiber, which is an important ingredient for crafting many helpful items. Luckily, it’s simple to find and collect if you know where to look. Here’s how.
How to Get Fibrous Pulp in Subnautica 2
In Subnautica 2, you can obtain Fibrous Pulp by collecting plants with fiber using the Survival Multitool. This tool is made at a Fabricator with 2 Titanium Ore.
You can get Fibrous Pulp by cutting certain plants with a Survival Multitool. Many of these plants grow in the shallow water near your Lifepod. Here are a few easy ones to find:
| Fibrous Pulp Plant | Description | Location |
|---|---|---|
Curtain Gorgon |
A brown-colored wavy coral found in shallow waters growing on larger coral structures and rock formations. |
|
Cradle Shootroot |
Cradle Shootroot grows on the ocean floor, glowing in the dark with sea-green orange-tipped leaves and a bright orange bulb. The bulb is Lucifer Rotsac, the main ingredient used to craft Rubber. |
|
Feather Kelp |
Feather Kelp grows on the walls of caverns and other underground structures. It has orange stems and dark pink leaves without any flowers. There are multiple Feather Kelp growths in the cave directly underneath the Lifepod. |
|
Macaron Sponge |
Macaron sponge is a small flat mushroom with a purple body, pink flaps, and a bright purple outline on the flaps that makes them visible from a distance. Be mindful as you approach since the area surrounding Macaron Sponge is occupied by hostile sealife. |

As a player, I’ve found that if I use my Survival Multitool on any of those plants, I get Fibrous Pulp. The cool thing is, I can keep chopping at the same plant over and over, and each time it’ll give me one Fibrous Pulp!
Besides Fiber, Fibrous Pulp can be used to make Oily Salad, one of the earliest foods players can craft in Subnautica 2.
How to Get Fiber in Subnautica 2
| Item | Crafting Station | Required Materials |
|---|---|---|
| Fiber | Fabricator |
|
In Subnautica 2, you can make Fiber by using a Fabricator to process Fibrous Pulp. Look for it under the ‘Basic Materials’ section of the ‘Resources’ tab. Fiber is a key ingredient for crafting helpful items like Fiber Mesh, First Aid Kits (both basic and enhanced), and Fins.
Okay, so the Fabricator needs power to run, which is pretty standard. Luckily, the one in the Lifepod starts with some juice already. But if you want to build your own Fabricators in bases, you’ll need to sort out the power yourself. I found that Solar Panels are a lifesaver early on – they’re the easiest way to get things running until you can build something more powerful.
