Man, I was bummed to hear LEGO is retiring the Great Deku Tree set this year! It was the very first official LEGO set based on The Legend of Zelda, and it’s been super popular ever since it came out. Seriously, everyone was hyped when it was announced, and it’s been awesome seeing all the creative things people have built using the pieces from the set – it’s been a real fan favorite!
Since its release in September 2024, the LEGO Deku Tree set has inspired countless creative builds. It was later joined by another LEGO set based on the world of Zelda, recreating the climactic battle from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. However, this new set differs significantly from the Deku Tree. It contains only 1,003 pieces compared to the Deku Tree’s 2,500, and doesn’t have instructions for building anything other than the main model.
Say Goodbye to LEGO’s Deku Tree Zelda Set
The LEGO Deku Tree set has been added to the “Last Chance to Buy” section of the LEGO website, meaning it will soon be discontinued. LEGO has confirmed the set will officially retire on July 31, 2026. While it’s only been available for about 22 months, this retirement timeline is fairly typical for LEGO sets, which usually stay in production for 18 to 36 months – around two years on average. So, the Deku Tree isn’t being retired unusually quickly.

LEGO typically retires sets around the anniversary of their release, usually in September. With new LEGO releases planned for this summer and in November 2026, it follows that the Deku Tree set will retire on July 31, 2026 – even though it’s only been available for under two years. Fortunately, there’s still time to purchase the set from LEGO’s website or Amazon before it’s discontinued.
As a huge LEGO and Zelda fan, I was so excited when the Ocarina of Time set came out in March 2026! Right now, it looks like that’s the only Zelda set we’re getting this year, and there aren’t any rumors about more coming soon. That’s actually good news for those of us who want it, because it means the Ocarina of Time set should be around for at least another year and a half, maybe even longer. It’s cool to see LEGO offering different price points too – the Deku Tree set is $299.99, but the Final Battle set is much more affordable at $129.99.
Looking at the cost per piece, the Deku Tree set offers slightly better value at around 12 cents per piece, compared to 13 cents for the Ocarina of Time set. Despite this small difference, the Deku Tree set is still considered a very memorable LEGO release. Many fans have even created their own versions of the Great Deku Tree using various LEGO sets, demonstrating how popular it is. Because of this popularity, and the fact that LEGO often re-releases licensed sets, it’s quite possible we’ll see it available again in the future. While there’s no official announcement yet, it’s a likely possibility.
