New Far Cry 7 Leaks: Villain Actor, Protagonist Model, Multiplayer, and More

Ubisoft is known for information about its games leaking online, and recently, details about a new Far Cry game – tentatively called Far Cry 7 – have begun to surface following the confirmation of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. While fans should remember that these are just rumors until Ubisoft officially confirms anything, it’s been almost five years since the last Far Cry game (FC6), so a new installment is likely in development.

The information comes from Rogue, a source with some past inaccuracies, but they appear more reliable than others for a few reasons. Most notably, their claims have been supported by xJonathan, a leaker known for accurate Assassin’s Creed information, though their record isn’t perfect either. Recently, Rogue also revealed new details about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe, including the protagonist’s name (Anika), the game’s setting in Wurzburg, and the return of Ezio, among other things.

A recent report from Rogue confirms that the leaked story details for Far Cry 7 are accurate: the game will involve rescuing family members and feature a time-manipulation element. The game is also reportedly set in Alaska. Rogue shared an audio clip allegedly from a Far Cry 7 trailer (which was quickly taken down due to copyright claims), noting it included a prominent ticking clock sound effect. While rumors previously suggested Cillian Murphy would be the game’s villain, Rogue is now stating that claim is false.

As a big Far Cry fan, I was checking out some leaks and Rogue posted what they say is an early look at one of the characters we’ll be playing as in Far Cry 7. Honestly, it’s not much to go on, but the character kinda reminded me of bearded Trevor from GTA 5. What’s cool is it seems like Far Cry 7 will let us choose our character’s gender again, just like in Far Cry 6. Also, apparently, they were originally working on two different Far Cry games – the main single-player one and a separate multiplayer title. But Rogue says they’ve now combined those into just one game, which is a little disappointing but hopefully means they can really focus on making it great!

Essentially, the multiplayer component will be sold and shipped with the main game, though it might be available as a separate download, similar to how Call of Duty does things – this is just an educated guess. Unlike a standalone free-to-play game, the multiplayer is included as part of the full package, a practice more common in the past. This multiplayer, described as an ‘Extraction’ game, takes place on its own separate map called “Paradise Park,” distinct from the single-player game’s map.

Whether Rogue’s information is accurate remains to be seen, but they predict Ubisoft might announce Far Cry 7 this year. They think an announcement is most likely at Summer Game Fest or a Ubisoft Connect event this summer, though they don’t expect the game to actually come out this year. Rogue suggests that if Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Far Cry 7 both launch in 2027, and if Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a hit with both Ubisoft and players, the next year or two could be very positive for the company.
