Nintendo is heading back to Cologne, Germany, for Gamescom this summer. While they haven’t revealed what games or products they’ll showcase, Nintendo has confirmed they’ll be present at the Koelnmesse for the duration of the event.
Gamescom, a huge video game event, has taken place every year in Cologne, Germany since 2009. It’s become the largest gaming expo in Europe, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic. The event typically begins with Gamescom Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley. The 2025 opening show featured trailers for games like World of Warcraft: Midnight and Black Myth: Zhong Kui, and a preview of the second season of Amazon’s Fallout TV series.
Nintendo Will Officially Be at Gamescom This August
Following a successful appearance at Gamescom 2025 after the launch of the Switch 2, Nintendo has announced it will return to Cologne, Germany this year. Nintendo confirmed on social media that they’ll be present for the entire event, running from August 26th to 30th. While they haven’t revealed what games or products they’ll showcase, Nintendo encourages fans to follow their official channels for updates. Last year’s event highlighted the Switch 2 with first-party titles like Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, as well as popular third-party games such as Hades 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Several Nintendo games might be showcased at this year’s Gamescom, including Splatoon Raiders and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. Splatoon Raiders, the first single-player spinoff in the Splatoon series, will let players explore the Spirhalite Islands and is set to release on July 23rd. While the upcoming strategy game, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, is planned for 2026, it’s still uncertain if Nintendo and Intelligent Systems will feature it at the event, though the Fire Emblem series is very popular.
Nintendo will be at Gamescom 2026 shortly before a price change for the Switch 2. Starting September 1st – just two days after Gamescom ends – the console will cost $499 instead of $449, due to increasing component costs. To make the higher price more appealing, Nintendo is offering a new bundle. When you buy the $499 Switch 2, you can choose a digital copy of Mario Kart World, Pokemon Pokopia, or Donkey Kong Bananza to play right away.

As a huge Nintendo fan, I’ve been hearing whispers about a possible remake of Ocarina of Time – can you believe it?! Nintendo’s been super secretive about what they’re working on, but the rumors are getting pretty exciting. I’m really hoping we’ll see something *Zeldarelated at Gamescom this year, fingers crossed!
