The creators of Phasmophobia have apologized for the problems caused by their recent update to player characters. Although fans had been eagerly anticipating the update, it unfortunately launched with several bugs and issues.
On May 5th, the game Phasmophobia received a major update focusing on player characters. This update completely changed how characters look and move, and also added options to customize their appearance with new skins and cosmetics. Players were especially looking forward to improved animations, as Phasmophobia was previously known for some unusual and awkward character movements. Unfortunately, the update didn’t go smoothly at first, but the developers have since released a fix.
Players quickly shared their concerns after the latest Player Character Update for Phasmophobia launched, and the development team at Kinetic Games has now issued an apology. They admit the update didn’t meet their quality standards and fell short of expectations. After carefully reviewing player feedback, they’ve released a patch to fix the most significant issues. This update is live now, coinciding with the new Alan Wake crossover, bringing the game to version 0.17.1.0.

This update mainly addresses visual problems players experienced after the recent character update. Previously, some players reported issues like distorted character limbs, incorrectly positioned equipment, and unnatural animations when characters looked around. We’ve also made some improvements to make things clearer – for example, the Tier 1 Igniter box now shows how many matches are inside. Finally, we’ve fixed issues causing characters to appear to float or have their feet clip through the floor.
Okay, so the update was a bit rough around the edges visually, but honestly, the biggest problem for most of us was all the bugs! Thankfully, the developers have been working hard to fix things. They’ve sorted out a lot of issues with how the environments work – like doors getting stuck and things not loading properly. They’ve also fixed a ton of problems with our ghost hunting gear in Phasmophobia, which is awesome. Basic stuff is working better too – ghosts are behaving as they should, dropped items aren’t vanishing when you die, and voice chat is actually reliable now! They’ve admitted there are still a few things to iron out, especially with the Alan Wake event. There are some weird animation glitches, and we’re still seeing some visual and audio bugs – like the Angel Lamp messing with the EMF Reader, or the Tier 1 Spirit Box disappearing at Oh Deer Diner when you’re using the CCTV. Hopefully, they’ll get those last few issues sorted soon!

This update will include more character customization options, smoother animations, faster equipment and gameplay, and several other improvements to make the game more enjoyable. While there’s no specific release date yet, it should come out before the full version of Phasmophobia (version 1.0).
