Helius co-founder Mert Mumtaz, Zcash’s most enthusiastic hype-man (and apparent fan of privacy), has declared war on Telegram. Why? Because nothing says “Web3 future” like a platform that deletes your life’s work with the efficiency of a 5-year-old with a sledgehammer.
The catalyst? Dominik Clemente’s account-compromised by hackers, then summarily executed by Telegram’s support team, who apparently treat data recovery like a joke. No warnings, no second chances-just poof. Gone. Like your ex’s Instagram after a breakup.
Mumtaz, now leading a #DeleteTelegram movement, argues the platform is a glorified digital landfill for crypto devs. “It’s like using a sieve to store cryptocurrency,” he sighs, while the rest of us are still trying to figure out why we trusted it in the first place.

What’s driving the campaign against Telegram
For privacy purists (aka Zcash’s biggest fans), Telegram’s lack of end-to-end encryption is about as secure as a diary left on a park bench. Signal’s E2EE? “Corporate-grade.” Slack’s team chats? “Professional.” Telegram’s default settings? “Let’s hope the hackers are nice today.”
Mumtaz and dcbuilder.eth, now crypto’s most tragic duo, point out that Telegram’s “support” is reserved for big corporate partners. Everyone else? Left to fend off hacks with a prayer and a coffee-stained keyboard.

Independent builders, after losing years of work to Telegram’s automated deletion squad, are now advised to “store your crypto secrets in a shoebox under a bed made of bricks.”
Mumtaz, now Solana’s unofficial spokesperson for “privacy but make it chaotic,” has crypto Twitter buzzing about migrating to Signal and decentralized dApps. Meanwhile, Pavel Durov, busy flexing TON’s blockchain potential like it’s a dating profile, might want to check his messages.
Judging by the chaos, Telegram will remain TON’s go-to marketing tool-because nothing says “trust us” like a platform that deletes your account for fun. But for actual business? Yeah, it’s basically a fire hazard with bells on it.
