Oh, the Banking Committee! A den of activity so frenetic, one might think they’ve discovered gold in the inkwell. Over 100 amendments now litter the CLARITY Act like confetti at a bureaucratic parade, with Senator Elizabeth Warren alone penning 40 proposals-each one a masterstroke of legislative gymnastics ahead of Thursday’s markup.
The committee’s draft, a tome swelling from 278 to 309 pages, now rivals Tolstoy in length. One wonders if the goal is to legislate or merely to induce a national nap.
Warren’s Paper Army Marches as Senate Prepares Crypto’s Final Trial
According to POLITICO, Democrats have unleashed a horde of amendments, while Republicans, ever the rebels, contributed a handful of revisions. A truce? Hardly. This is a battlefield of commas and semicolons.

News: Sens. Reed (D-R.I.) and Smith (D-Minn.) have filed an amendment ahead of Thursday’s markup that forces senators to choose between crypto and banks.
The amendment would incorporate banks’ changes to stablecoin yield restrictions. A “tough vote” indeed-for Republicans who’ve been bank-friendly their whole lives. Cue the existential crisis.

Crypto In America’s Eleanor Terrett reported that Warren’s amendments would deny crypto companies the sweet nectar of Fed master accounts. A move as gracious as a bear hug from a porcupine.
Senator Jack Reed’s amendment, meanwhile, bans crypto as legal tender-unless you’re paying taxes, apparently. A decision so bold, it makes one wonder if the senator’s crypto wallet is haunted by ghosts of fiscal reason.
Last January, 137 amendments were filed. Now? The tally has grown like a Russian nesting doll of red tape. Resistance, it seems, is not just a policy-it’s a sport.
The American Bankers Association, undeterred, has mailed 8,000 letters to Senate offices since Friday. A postal siege, all to save stablecoin yields. One imagines interns weeping over stamp rolls.
The CLARITY Act vote looms this Thursday.
It decides whether the Senate Banking Committee advances the updated draft to the full Senate floor.
But what has changed? The latest Senate version got bigger and more detailed: 309 pages.
The biggest policy additions are new…

Thursday morning, the Banking Committee will gather in Washington to vote-a ceremony as thrilling as watching paint dry, but with more lobbyists in the audience.
