Currently, the main villains in the Boruto series are a group known as the Shinju. They first appeared in chapter 3 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which came out in November 2023. Since then, the series has repeatedly shown just how powerful they are, and we’ve learned more about their history. At their strongest, the Shinju consisted of five members: Mamushi, Matsuri, Ryu, Hidari, and Jura. Together, they are a formidable force that very few in the Boruto universe can match. However, the shinobi of Konoha are proving to be a challenge, and they’ve already defeated three of these powerful Shinju.

In the latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sarada Uchiha activated her Mangekyo Sharingan, allowing her to defeat Ryu. Soon after, Boruto and Konohamaru teamed up to beat Matsuri. This recent storyline, known as the Mamushi arc, officially ended on April 20, 2026, with the defeat of Mamushi and leaving only two Shinju remaining. The next arc, starting on May 20, 2026, will center around these final two Shinju, with one of them becoming the primary villain. Hidari, being the weaker of the two, is expected to be that villain.
Hidari, created from Sasuke’s DNA, is incredibly strong and pushes the Konoha ninja to reach their limits. The story will primarily focus on Team 7 – the central characters of Boruto. All four members will be involved in intense battles, finally allowing the full potential of powers like Karma, the Mangekyo Sharingan, and Sage Transformation to be showcased in upcoming chapters.
Why The New Arc Will Finally Show The Next Level Of Karma And Mangekyo Sharingan
Team 7 in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex currently consists of Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, Mitsuki, and Kawaki. These four members are all expected to be central to the next story arc, each with new abilities. Boruto recently received the full power of Karma from Momoshiki Otsutsuki (in chapter #29), and his current goal is to defeat Jura before ultimately relinquishing control of his body to Momoshiki. While Boruto has begun to use his Karma, he’s only accessed its first stage so far, as seen in his fight with Mamushi. The upcoming battle against Hidari, anticipated to start around May 20, 2026, will likely push Boruto to unlock the full potential of his Karma and reach its second stage.

Sarada Uchiha needs to become much stronger in the upcoming arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Her fight with Mamushi showed the current limits of her Mangekyo Sharingan, and it’s clear the story is building towards her overcoming those limitations. The upcoming battle against Hidari is especially important for Sarada’s growth, as she’s fighting to save her father, and her Sharingan is expected to evolve during this crucial fight.
In the next part of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Kawaki has a lot of work to do. His recent fight with Mamushi showed he needs to get much stronger to be able to fight Boruto Uzumaki. Mitsuki also needs to improve his abilities, as everyone else is rapidly gaining power.

Each member of Team 7 in Boruto now possesses their strongest abilities: Sarada has awakened her Mangekyo Sharingan, Boruto and Kawaki have the Karma mark, and Mitsuki can use Sage Transformation. Fans are now excited to see how these powers will develop further in the upcoming Hidari arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
The story strongly suggests Boruto Uzumaki is as powerful as the Otsutsuki clan. His potential growth is being developed through the introduction of the second stage of the Karma power. As a huge Sarada fan, I truly believe she’s already powerful enough to defeat an Otsutsuki-level Shinju – we saw a glimpse of that during her mission in the Land of Wind! But honestly, the biggest hurdle right now is her Mangekyo Sharingan; the strain and potential blindness are a real concern. I’m so excited because the next arc seems perfectly set up to address this, with her facing off against Hidari, who shares her father’s DNA! I have a feeling this will lead to a major power-up for her, potentially unlocking either the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan or even the Rinnegan. It’s going to be amazing to see her reach her full potential!
Mitsuki might not be the most impressive right now, but he’s definitely a force to be reckoned with. His Sage Transformation is already powerful enough to challenge Boruto, and hints suggest he could eventually become even stronger than the Legendary Sannin. This means his next power-up could allow him to battle the Shinju and keep pace with the rest of Team 7. As the Shinju reveal their full strength, it’s clear Konoha’s strongest team will become even more formidable in the upcoming arc.
